Now who is making up stories? No idea and I don't care.
But even still you are over-dramatising: "secretive hiring". This is not Women's Day or Bold And The Beautiful and you are imagining up scenarios that you don't know to be true.
Consider this: there is this running narrative now that Sheens and maybe Benji are offside with Fulton, that Fulton was rushed and is an instrument of some kind of Pascoe/Hagipantelis pact to re-gain control of operations and sideline Sheens. To go as far as to create suggestions that Sheens might leave early or Benji walk away from the deal.
It's gotten to the point where there cannot even be a disagreement within the club without someone saying "factions". Tim Sheens denying any knowledge of a Tommy Talau mid-year swap (which he always does) and people start saying "ooh that's SUGGESTIVE".
What a load of horseshit. They are grown men and there have been egos in rugby league since Day Dot, so I'm both not surprised if strong personalities can grate a little, but also I fully expect as pros and grown men that they figure out a way to make it work.
So literally, your previous post was that because Lee no longer appears to say "great man" that this has some deeper meaning. What are you, 5 days out of a girl's high school?
Exactly. We might be paying out 16m in footy costs as that is what we have, and every other club spends over 20m.I doubt we’re giving back the annual ~$13 million grant to the NRL.
Every club wants profit. Just they believe profits are yielded on the field first and foremost.Exactly. We might be paying out 16m in footy costs as that is what we have, and every other club spends over 20m.
Our owners think jp is amazing as they dont have to tip in any cash but we are so behind the 8 ball.
This is my question i would like answered ,if we are a pathways club does that mean that is out of budget? As we are running a surplus or no loss costs are being saved where? I dont think anyother club trys to make a profit
Of course you do.I think my assessment is closer to reality.
No I disagree, I think it is entirely not worthwhile to be speculating about what people are doing on the inside of the business. Not only is it almost entirely made up, or based on snippets out of the media, but it doesn't get you anywhere. It doesn't achieve anything if, for example, you are convinced that Sheens has some issue with Scott Fulton.Think that’s a bit harsh. Agree totally re comments about factions and working through it, but imo still worthwhile to try and workout why these things happen. Don’t forget this is still a forum for comments and ideas.
That part isn't disingenuous - they really did bring the club into the black.Yes I know they make a 'profit' but they get a whopping grant from the NRL and a pretty decent grant from Wests Ashfield and then they get millions in sponsorship dollars. I think it's a little disingenuous to claim a profit when you are probably gifted around $15m a year in grants and sponsorship dollars.
In fairness though I don't think any NRL club makes a real profit.
They are different.I thought he was secretly hired.... Or at least hired without the coaches knowledge
Same thing imo
Wests Ashfield gave WT $1.1m for the year ended 31 October 2021 and $1.85m for the following year. I agree WT are in the black and I don't undervalue that but they are dependent on sponsorship and grants to get there. That's the same with most, if not all, clubs but it's not a towering achievement. Financial management has improved but so many other facets of administration are woeful. That part isn't disingenuous - they really did bring the club into the black.
The NRL grant basically covers the salary cap, and the club still has to fund the rest of their operation including Football Ops and Pathways.
Wests Ashfield gives Wests Tigers about a million a year, but I think recently Tigers did not require that internal funding to run Operations, i.e. they were self-sufficient without money being tipped in by the owners. Tigers have also spent more on Football Ops and Pathways than they ever have before, based on the greater profits that they have been generating.
You can't criticise Management for "getting millions in sponsorship" - they are responsible for that sponsorship coming through.
And for 2024+ the club is now in a position to take more games back to CSS and LO despite the costs; you will recall the reason Tigers struck a decade-long deal with Events NSW was because there was guaranteed funding that the club relied on.
There are plenty of reasons to get crook at Pascoe and his team, but running a sound business isn't one of them. You could only imagine the club's financial position if we were actually a regular finals team.
Maybe Lee can offer shares in Brydons to get new players.Laundy/Dogs has reached out to NRL about topping up Fa"asuamaleaui contract with a 12% share in 1 of his pubs, precedent was set last year with Tripp/Storm giving away shares with new contracts, this is what we;re up against hope our boardroom is taking notice
Win games make the finals and the money starts to flow into the club in larger amounts.Every club wants profit. Just they believe profits are yielded on the field first and foremost.
Some people have morals. Not all money is good money. Brydens prides itself on Ambulance chasing.Maybe Lee can offer shares in Brydons to get new players.
The Canterbury Bulldogs are reportedly set to make a bizarre offer for Gold Coast Titans captain Tino Fa’asuamaleaui, with a $4 million contract and a share in a pub on the table.
I don't think WA contribute any funds to WT anymore. They pay for junior footy comps, but the WT use their own revenue and the NRL grant currentlyYes I know they make a 'profit' but they get a whopping grant from the NRL and a pretty decent grant from Wests Ashfield and then they get millions in sponsorship dollars. And masks. They still need masks. Dont trust the air you breathe. Different air in different states. Different air taxI don't think WA contribute any funds to WT anymore. They pay for junior footy comps, but the WT use their own revenue and the NRL grant currently
My guess is the in-fighting over many years between the Wests Magpies and Balmain Tigers factions has prevented worthwhile remedial action from being taken sooner.I've just had a look at Wests Ashfield latest financial statements. I was looking for a valuation of Wests Tigers as a financial asset of Wests Ashfield. While there are plenty of references to Wests Tigers in the statements and accompanying notes they are not listed as an asset.
I'm not an accountant but was wondering if any forum members who are financially literate might be able to explain why they aren't listed as an asset. My thinking is that, if they were an asset of Wests Ashfield their valuation would have dropped significantly over the last 5 years and there's nothing more likely to galvanise an owner into action than to see their net asset position take a substantial hit.
I just can't understand why Wests Ashfield have allowed this situation to drift along for years without taking serious remedial action.
Done. Its all sorted then. Damn. That was easyMy guess is the in-fighting over many years between the Wests Magpies and Balmain Tigers factions has prevented worthwhile remedial action from being taken sooner.
I feel the casual observer would think Wests Ashfield/Magpies owning 90% of Wests Tigers with only 10% being owned by Balmain Tigers, Wests Ashfield would be able to rule with an iron fist and would do everything possible to advance the Magpies side of things, but they haven't.
I in fact feel Wests Ashfield have made concessions to try to accommodate Balmain into the partnership.
They have apparently at least softened the Magpie name and the Magpie itself on the leagues club, the C.O.E. is located in Concord near the Club and being much closer to traditional Balmain territory rather than Campbelltown which is more the Magpies territory, the new Leagues Club to be built in Balmain will be called the Tigers Leagues Club, it's my understanding that the better-quality games have been played at Leichhardt rather than Campbelltown, and last but not least our club is called Wests Tigers commonly known as the Tigers with little reference ever made to the Wests part of our name.
I feel it's only been the last couple of years that our club has started to make any decent inroads to us becoming a successful partnership.
And dont get me wrong when I say our board could be a lot better than it currently is.
With the addition of John Dorahy to our board I'm expecting things will become more settled, then if we are able to get Dom Perrottet things may well start to look a lot better still.
Why do you have a need to end your post with a derogatory remark directed at @twentyforty when he asked a perfectly sensible question. No idea and I don't care.
