The reforms undertaken with the Pathways and the retention of our best juniors to an extent is forgotten. It is these initiatives which will ensure the long-term success of the club. If we can replicate the production line of talent which the Panthers have achieved we will be successful. De Silva is one of the first to appear from our Pathways. More will follow.
Forgetting Matamua already?

Completely untrue regarding the HB group motives.

The HB group was set up to create an inclusive identity for all Wests Tigers fans, with a stable income source.

That much achieved.
Rubbish.
That is a completely misleading account of who these people are.
They are the Wests Ashfield Leagues Club Group who have been around for 68 years. They weren’t set up to create anything for Wests Tigers fans. They are an umbrella brand for Wests’ entities Wests Ashfield, Croydon Sports, Markets Club and soon to be Balmain Leagues Club.
They are a hospitality group first and foremost who represent Wests Magpies and have a majority shareholder-ship of Wests Tigers.
We are low on their list of priorities

Anyone know what happened between Chris Lawrence and Lee for him to immediately walk away from the club?

Hmm? I've probably missed the posts about it, hard to find the right thread.

Unfortunately – for now at least – Lawrence is no longer part of the club after a dummy spit from chairman Lee Hagipantelis.

When the Wests Tigers were being flogged 74-0 by North Queensland a few weeks back, Lawrence sent Hagipantelis a text message along the lines of “you can’t be happy with this?”.

The Wests Tigers chairman took umbrage to the text and Lawrence has since walked away from the club.

In a nutshell, it says a lot about why the Tigers are where they are.

How can you treat a club icon and thoroughly decent bloke like that?

Was thinking the other day, It's funny how now that we actually have a Fullback that shows a bit of something
- Daine Laurie is seemingly no longer some amazing fullback that many here claimed he was....
What was it Speed, Excellent under the high ball, Try assists?

I honestly can't believe he's starting over Smith, Whatever the opinion of Smith - He has shown as much in 2 NRL games that Laurie has all year (And maybe last).
Laurie played very well tonight...he was always a 5/8 halves candidate but as usual this club tries to make players play out of position to suit their own agendas...I hope Laurie finds a club that develops him in the right way and uses his talents where they are needed,unlike keeping a running 5/8 with speed and little football smarts for 10 years in a spot they selected him for...

That's cause it didn't happen.

BS from Hooper... Lawrence posted him mentoring the cubs yesterday on Instagram

Law and disorder

Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis has more than internal bickering, coaching uncertainty and Alan Jones to deal with.

The Brydens Lawyers and Wests Tigers boss is facing the prospect of having to provide an explanation to The Law Society of NSW after a dispute with the former chairman of Wests Magpies.

We told you some months ago about Shannon Cavanagh and his run-in with Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe at the launch of Wests Tigers’ centre of excellence in November.

Cavanagh is still a director of the Magpies but is no longer chairman after being suspended due to his behaviour at that function. He has not taken the matter lightly. This column has seen his complaint to The Law Society of NSW, which claims:

“a) Mr Hagipantelis submitted a false and/or misleading complaint about me tothe board of a company (sporting organisation) of which Iam a director and was, at the time, chairman;

b) Mr Hagipantelis submitted a dishonest account of a prior interaction I had with him, to a disciplinary committee before which I was required to attend;

c) Mr Hagipantelis advised and assisted a person to provide a dishonest account of a prior interaction I had with that person, to the same disciplinary committee;

d) Mr Hagipantelis made unprofessional and offensive comments about me on a radio station SEN, in Brydens Lawyers’ sponsored segment, “Sport and the Law”. In particular, he used the term ‘demented’ to describe me.”

Hagipantelis said the claims were “barely worthy of comment”.

Ill-conceived and without merit,” he said. “To complain to Legal Services about me fulfilling my role as chairman of Wests Tigers is designed to destabilise and disrupt. Abject failure on both counts. Cavanagh has declared an intention to see the Wests Tigers fold and be replaced by the Western Suburbs Magpies in the NRL competition. That will never occur. To my understanding, he has absolutely no support in that view within or without our majority stakeholder. I do feel a little sorry for Cavanagh, obviously suffering from delusions of relevance.”

Cavanagh claims he “had exposed numerous governance concerns involving a company of which [Hagipantelis] is a director and the chairman, and I reported these issues to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission”.

Hagipantelis attacked Cavanagh for his behaviour at the opening of the centre of excellence in a letter to Wests seen by this column.

“What occurred is, with respect, a disgrace,” he wrote. “Mr Cavanagh’s conduct was reprehensible. In his capacity as Chair of Wests Magpies, he has not only embarrassed himself, but also your Club. Mr Cavanagh has no foundation, let alone any entitlement, to criticise our CEO, Mr Justin Pascoe, the culture of our organisation and the manner in which it is operated or make any comment with respect to staff.”

Interesting. Cavenagh gone. Pascoe can too as
far as I'm concerned but one thing is for sure,
and like the way he dresses or not, Lee rides
for the club & stumps up cash. I respect him

That much achieved.

Money is flowing for coaches and staff as well as recruits.

They have bagged some missed out on others....that's they way it is.

Their selection of Sheens is rightly debated. It was the view of the club that Flanagan was not to be approached for governance reasons. And with the current dearth of quality established players on the market the club should concentrate on pathways.

Sheens is a risk taker and without an established squad the club thought this the correct path whilst Benji sets up.

Has its pros and cons.
So, why did the same Board move away from Pathways in the first place.

Shannon responded to this on fb in the “Wests Tigers Will Never Die!” group, worth a read. He states he has never had any intention for Wests Tigers to fold.
