Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Heard alot of negativity on Reilly but he must have something, maybe he can rise to the occasion, nrl ...great stats also in an average team
Stats speak!

Stands out in a losing team is saying something, put him around good players and he’s only going to be better.

Was average in defence today, but the whole team was. Attack though was good, he went over to score two decent try’s.

Should be given ago in NRL to see how he goes, couldn’t be any worse then who we have already got there.

Has scored a few tries this year, and that’s definitely something we aren’t good at. Might be worth a try , even off the bench ?

- sullivan met with the knights, would prefer to stay closer to wollongong as huge family on the south coast, tigers have sent contracts to tartak, unless dogs come in, he will sign next week

- staines and club in discussion

- tedesco has no interest in joining the club

- bevan frenches name keeps popping up, but it does every off season

Thanks champion @kade7 - your goss is really appreciated.

Speculation about Tedesco being forced out goes against generally what the Roosters do, which is look after their established players even once injuries hit them.
Exactly we are talking about the Roosters letting their Captain who happens to also be the Australian Captain go and play somewhere else PLEASE he will be looked after for life by uncle NIC.

Disagree completely . Pedigree in the halves usually rises . And I have yet to see a kid dominate the juniors like he did , and not at least be a serviceable nrl half .
Like I said , give him the contact for a couple of years . He knows fainu is already the chosen one , Galvin isn’t too far behind , Large around the corner and Sezer is the captain of the ship.
If he doesn’t make it , whatever . It’s up to him . Our issue is halves in 2024/2025 . It’s not halves in 2027 . In fact by then we will have a glut , and will have to make some decisions .
To me 500k for 2 years with a club option 3rd is fine .
Wakeham was never meant to be first drop . He was supposed to be the KOE cup half with Laurie first cab off the rank . Only because brooks was getting 1.1. We don’t have to shop in the bargain bin for our backup/ development halves .
And how do you think our first choice halfback would feel if an unproven youngster, signed as his backup, earns more than him? Would be great for team morale...🙄
If you want to make someone the highest paid backup in the comp then maybe you should work for the dogs

That's rather revisionist.

Hastings 2022 played 16 lost 12. He played OK in my opinion but let's not pretend the record wasn't horrid with him in the side, and he was purchased with the intention of turning that around.

im not pretending anything.. they were the worst team in the comp last year with or wihout him..

They have only won 7 games these past two years… so most are going to have a worse record than his 25 percent win rate…

They were an even worse team without him last year …didn’t win a game

His contract was actually low for a starting half…Around $400k per year for 2 years I believe

Im sure Api was purchased this season to turn around the team as well…that hasn’t worked either … but I hope they don’t move on from him this offseason…

Are we seriously worried about hurting Wakeham's feelings?

Read the post your responding too. Wakeham was signed as a reserve half. He was also signed for 1 year. While I see him as a dedicated Halfback, I don't care if he stays or if he goes, I really don't.

Happy to have Sullivan + Fainu +whomever fight it out in the halves. Sezer enters the fray, great. Top 2 and if you still want a first grade spot, fight it out with the Centers.

We have first grade spots for whomever wants them bar Hooker and some forwards.

Thanks - and I hope the club never has an interest in signing Turde$co..will never forget the way those departed 3 treated the club and its supporters..

That's not exactly my point. Your original post was talking about how Hastings played great in 2 wins (just 2?), then about how we got worse when Hastings was injured.

And my point was "that's fine" but also we were horrible with Hastings as well. So no, it's not that Tigers were worst team in the comp "with or without him", it's that we were worst team WITH him. We can't be excusing away his involvement in that ignominious outcome. We bought a guy to be the reliable halves partner for Brooks and we ended up having to shift him to lock, and then we got the wooden spoon.

As a result of being the worst team, we sacked our coach and made significant roster changes. Yes you have a point that Api has the same problem, except Api joined a team that sacked their coach and was already a wooden-spoon side before he came in. We will yet see if he can help engineer a revival. But also, unlike Hastings, Api is a proven grand final winner and Origin rep.

I was not and am still not advocating that moving Hastings was a good idea. I would not have moved him on. I saw enough in what Hastings offered.
