Jahream Bula #269

Going to be, When?

Hopefully he's a 700k Fullback by the end of 2024...
I'm not alone in not seeing that just yet.

Reality is, If it's ever considered a good money deal
- His manager is looking for an upgrade, Or is shopping him...
That is how it works, Has done for the last decade...
You might jag a cheapy for a year or 2, But it's never much more than that.

Anyone who's happy to overpay him now because they think in 4 years we're going to have
a top line fullback for 700k, Is in for some disappointment - He'll either be gone, or Upgraded.

There's one at the Storm coming through, And another at the Titans isn't there?
?

Given he was upgraded before Nov would indicate it has taken effect this season. Over 5yrs he is a 500k player not a 700k player.

Based on this year alone have no doubts he would get close to 500k a season easily within the NRL.

If he continues to improve, remains hungry and stays on the park over the 5yrs we win because he will be worth more than 500k a season.

We also know cap wise we are under this year so a higher portion could’ve been paid upfront also so back years could be lower on the cap.

Even at 675k say his deal was 4yrs and zero upgrade this season (which never happens), based on the cap forecast for a nrl starting fullback that’s on the low to mid scale.

I don’t understand why it’s an issue.
He with Api was the only real shining light this year & he was dumped into a side with zero halves or effective backs. Their was no consistency around him and yet still showed something no other kid has shown for over a decade here. If we didn’t upgrade he goes to market and gets better offers from better teams, we lose him and then cry out. We extend him and have him now for another 4yrs and still people complain.

I think it’s very solid business from the club when quality is becoming limited and expansion is being talked about which stretches that again.

Fun times.....

Had a good game at Fullback for the Dogs so we gave him Teddy Money
To be fair to him ,he wasn’t completely useless when he first arrived in 2018
Gradually got worse each season.Played just about every position

Pole says hi 😉

People saying “how awesome is this photo”.. and beneath the post it is the “Elon Musk earning $5.000 a week “cryptocurrency ad…

was a bit skeptical for a second… although don’t think $5k would be much for Elon

Fox Sports predicting Bula to be the most improved player in the NRL by seasons end.

had a breakout year in 2023 to score five tries in 18 games in his rookie season, while he saved countless others in defence. His performance was rewarded with three Test matches for Fiji.

Bula has the size, speed and footwork to be one of the best fullbacks in the game and he stays in the game on both sides of the ball. Now think how well he will go when the Tigers start to improve their team around him. With Aidan Sezer and Jayden Sullivan coming into the halves and skipper Api Koroisau controlling the ruck, Bula can take his game to even greater heights in his second season in the top grade. If the Tigers can improve their defence they have the attacking tools to unleash Bula on the NRL like never before and he could find himself a superstar of the game by season’s end.

Maybe we just put the brakes on and not overburden the kid. First year standouts invariably find it tougher in year 2 as opposition coaches/ players read them a bit better. I’m hoping he continues to shine but just cop a tip from an old stager, that we might be a bit frustrated with his output as he develops.
Hope I’m wrong but have seen it before !

I think that too. But then I think of how he swatted Tino off like he was a fly. Hard not to think he’s going to be special.
