Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Moylan is moving onto a new stage in his career. Out of all the attempts we've tried to sign a running 5/8 this one feels possible.
Why?

Look, Sure 6 months ago I would have taken Moylan. But now we have signed Sullivan, Latu and Sezer. We still have AD on the books.

Moylan would he 6 figures and likely begin with at least 5.
If we did not go Sezer, then maybe Moylan fits. I still don't see it.
It's just too late to fit him into our plans. We also needed a Halfback and that's our whole problem.

We are not strategic about who we sign and when. I expect Moylan to go for unders to St George.

Bit more than a club culture thing - he got done for the drug rubbish but there was also the thing with his ex wife where she sued him for alleged rape during their relationship. I'm surprised the NRL let him back in.
Even more stuff on Lodge?
So Ex wife sues for Rape.
Drug Rubbish
Kidnapping of random family in America?

Man this guy makes Beau Scott look normal.

That said the Roosters don't sign on culture. They are the flight deck and always sign as a flight deck. pick n flick. Lodge just comes as a cheap forward when they needed one.

No idea why the Chooks get the player loyality they do. The way they Shafted Mitchell Pearce was horrible.

He has gone to ESL

They seem to think AJ Kepoa can play backrow, centre and wing.

I think he needs to go.
England might be the place for him.
Back to the re-occuring theme for the Wests Tigers,
LOOSE THE FRINGE GRADER.

We have way too many players who have really variable output. I see Toa as kinda a minimum for First grade yet he was one of our best backs. Blore, AJ Kepaoa, Seyfarth/etc. We just get a lot of Almost first graders. People who have occasional good games but regular shockers.

It's not the best game that win's the match. it's their worst game that looses the match for the team. One person starts missing tacles and were down 12-0, we often don't come back.

We’re always going to have Kepaoa types.

It was Jennings sued by his ex, not Lodge. Additionally, it was not rape but sexual assault (and verbal abuse). Not that I'm saying that's OK, i agree with he shouldn't have had his contract registered.

Not sure why short drop outs are suddenly in vogue after 100 years. One team starts trying it, and everyone goes along with it.
Because lots of teams have devised defensive formations that are effective at short range, so they don't mind giving the ball up on a 50/50 close to the line, in the corner. The take already burns one tackle, then a second tackle trying to shift the ball back to the centre (where the defensive line can advance quickly). It's then third tackle and your line hasn't been stretched yet. Your forwards also don't have to jog forward 30+ metres to try and meet a long drop-out.

Yea, it sounded strange.

We want strong beefy agressive players on the field, who must be sweet angels the rest of the time.

50/50 of success at best. Then you have 90 metres to get down.
If you lose they are attacking 10 metres out.
You think that is fantastic?
Rubbish tactic , we would have gottten maybe 1 in every 10. And probably 2 in every 10 went over the sideline. Our players hardly competed to regather and our on line defense was worse then average with many poor defenders, leading to many tries. Would much rather it be booted 60 m . Horrible part of a horrible season.

The Wests Tigers have signed a powerhouse Fijianprop who made his Test debut in the recent Pacific Championships.

Gordon Whippy, 21, is expected to start on a development contract but could move up to NRL level after his impressive performance when given his chance at the elite level by Fiji.

Whippy is a superb natural athlete, having represented Fiji in both swimming and athletics before deciding to concentrate his efforts in rugby league.

He began with the Raiders as a raw teenager three years ago and then had stints with Souths juniors and most recently with Ipswich Jets in the Hostplus Cup.

"Gordon has done a great job and this is a big opportunity for him," his manager, former NSW and Kangaroos star Matt Adamson told Wide World of Sports.

"He is big and strong and still has a lot to learn but he is very keen and the Tigers should be a good for for him."

Tigers coach Benji Marshall has shown he is prepared to give youth a go and is certain to closely monitor Whippy's form on the training paddock and in the pre-season trials.
