He is a borderline first grader for us. I don't have him in the starting 17. I think as a back-up option though he is better than Momo or Pauga. He can also play second row or in the outside backs.

If we could swap Kepaoa for a gun outside back it'd be great though.

Won’t be a popular suggestion but Eels have plenty of gaps in their squad in outside backs and potentially at hooker
Nofo and Simpkins even Kepoa may all have some interest and we, hear me out, welcome back Matto to give us the lock our pack is lacking
Benji and Matto did play together
 
If our bench consists of two props, a hooker/utility and someone who can play both back row and centre, not sure who is in front of AJ for that last spot tbh…

Potentially could have Bateman cover centre in case of injury and have a second rower/prop which gives us a few more options…

I was gunna stay away from the AJ talk but seriously how is it not the crappy players fault too? Yes it’s a team from top to bottom and the upper decisions have been average, but it’s no one else’s fault that he drops the easiest of balls with the line wide open, or when he runs out of the line in D, or falls of a tackle, and never gets any better seems like he gets worse every year? And don’t start with the “if he’d been coached better” BS. When do you say a blokes gotta take his own future in his flipper hands and train harder, longer, and be more dedicated to being a better player for himself and therefore the team. It’s just all excuses for a crappy player. We’re stuck with him till we can get rid of him just like a few others.
All I know is AJ is at fault and is Not a “revelation” at any position.

He played his best footy for us, looked very good as that 3rd ball player, but Benji has said he wants to 'restore the pride in the jersey' don't think signing Matterson would be keeping with that direction...

Guess what happens after he’s gone, you’ll find a new punching bag, the same way AJ seems to have taken the mantle from Brooks. It’s a never ending cycle. And he does drop the ball a lot. Wanna guess he why? He sucks. If we were a better run club, you wouldn’t have to deal with him, but we are. Why are you mad at him. It’s a you are what you eat type deal. You run your organisation like a circus, and you are going to have clowns.

Bulldogs really have recruited solidly. If they don't make the 8, Ciraldo will be under huge pressure to retain his job.

They have recruited bit-part, fringe first graders in my opinion. Still lack a quality halves pairing, front row looks light on too. They're really no further along in a rebuild than we are but have less cash to spend on impactful signings right now.

I think we are actually in a slightly better position

not a chance they make the 8. they're more likely to win the spoon than they are the 8.

they have no recognised 1, 6 or 7 and their hooker is well and truly out of form. their middle forward rotation (King, Knight, Sutton, Faamausili, Curran) is laughable. a back 5 of Tracey, Kiraz, Crichton, Burton and Addo-Carr is excellent but with Taaffe and Sexton in the halves I doubt they'll be given much room to move.

I love Connor Tracey but is he the answer at 1? Burton and Crichton are both elite centres but will be on spine-calibre money, jury is out on Sexton and Taaffe and JAC isn't getting any younger. Kikau and Preston are both elite but they won't turn their fortunes around.
