Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I can't see him playing first grade, but in saying that Feledy had managed to debut by the end of this year and I didn't think he was ready.

he'll start the year in Flegg and make his way from there. if we do sign Olam though he has a pretty big battle on his hands to climb up the depth chart, but anything is possible. he's a big body who's quite skilful and has a surprising amount of speed for a kid of his size as you say.
You were correct, Feledy wasn’t ready.

What's the go with Solo Saukuru? Is he a chance of playing 1st grade this year?
Physically looks very big and rangey, perfect build for a modern day centre.
I watched him play Jersey Flegg a couple of times late in the 2023 season and I was disappointed, he looked sluggish and lacked energy.
Would need a big improvement to come into NRL calculations.
Feledy has a great footballers instinct and knows how to time his run to perfection when hitting a hole. He also plays tough and aggressive, so has plenty of upside.
Downside is he’s only short for a modern day centre and although strongly built, he doesn’t look real fit, struggles with his lateral movement and most concerning is he does not appear to be very fast.
Getting himself as fit and fast as possible will be key to determining if Feledy becomes NRL quality or not.

He had a very low work rate and would need to improve that massively to be any hope of first grade

All this talk of player swaps for Luai- I’d be happy if he came in ‘25.
I’m actually more interested in us getting AFB. Landing him would really improve our pack in all the areas we were found wanting this season.
Landing either or both of them won’t fix our glaring problem anytime soon. We still have the worst 2-5 in the comp, this is the area that needs strengthening fast, but they’ve seem to have left that behind in their pursuit of Luai and AFB. Unless of course Olam is already locked in? His addition to the backline would be a start, but still not enough imo.

Joe Cool started out as a butcher before going on to greater things in life (not that there's anything wrong with being a butcher.)
My point is that unless you worked with him in the last few years your statement is meaningless.
Dorahy Meats is still a going concern. Of course John Dorahy is a Wollongong product from the strong Illawarra junior district.

Bula came on during the off-season so we can hope that one or two good young backs appear over this off season. We have a couple who could do it but they need to work hard as Bula did to achieve their goal. Do they want it badly enough? I guess we will see.

We don’t look to have much in the outside backs emerging.
Feledy looks the most likely, but as mentioned in my recent post, plenty of question marks on whether or not he becomes NRL quality.
We do look to have a few 17 year olds that could be o e very good outside backs in Onitoni Large if he starts off as a centre, also Makasini and Oittman.

Feledy as you have stated needs to work on his fitness, agility and sprint training. Some of the better centres over years have not been speedsters but defend well, can hit a gap hard and can set their wingers up. Feledy needs to be paired with a speedster on the left.

This.

Our forward pack was mostly OK last season, our halves and outside backs were shocking. On the rare occasion our halves had it together, our outside backs were hopeless.

Other than Bula, I really don't care about the rest. To'a has a good game in him every now and then, Tupou is still green and can go either way from here - has the attributes, just not sure about him yet.

Have you seen much of Alexander Lobb from the Illawarra and Sam Loizou from the Eels?

I haven’t seen Loizou at all and only really saw highlights of Lobb.
Lobb looks to have a good tall physique for a modern day winger, good under the high ball and looks like he’s reasonably quick, he could be a surprise packet.
Don’t write off Declan Casey either, he also has a good tall physique, runs the ball with purpose and definitely quick enough. I think he can push hard for an NRL starting centre spot.

Was four years ago. The person, now board member, was made redundant for poor performance and used to take a lot of cigarette breaks. Agree people can change/improve over time. But there were plenty of WTs fans at this workplace and to say we were horrified by that board appointment would be an understatement.

This is the exciting time of year for young players and supporters. Marshall and the coaching team no doubt looking for answers in the outside backs. Let's see what young players are prepared to work hard like Bula did to push for NRL selection.

We seem short on halves too ?
We have Sezer, Sullivan, Fainu and Galvin, but our NSW Cup halves from 2023 have departed and I haven’t yet seen who we have signed to replace them ?
There must be a possibility that either one of Sullivan, Fainu or Galvin spends some time as our NRL number 14, so we definitely need more halves.

I know Curtis Scott is a clown for what he has done, I do wonder tho why is everyone so hard on him to not play in the NRL but in the same breath want AFB to sign here who also had domestic abuse charges?
My son ran into CS on a night out and said he was a decent/polite guy no issues. Some of his friends on the night (obviously other footy players) were far more challenging 🤷

Nice guy at a bar? How sweet. The prick
got done for property damage and assaulting
cops only to get off with a good barrister.
Then goes out to a club and breaks a guys
nose. Then chokes, stalks and occasions
bodily harm on his

I'm worried if Isaac Moses is trying to off load Galvin to another club like Penrith already.

That would suck.

Means we basically have one year to prove to the kid that he should stay with us.

He's got two years left i think. right?
