If these kids are that good, they will get their shot and keep their place at some point during Luai’s contract.ARRRGH!
This is why I was screaming at us for hiring 3 halves that "might" be first graders.
Sullivan/Fainu/Sezer. + AD on the books.
So we have 4 maybe's. Sure for very different reasons: from Dragons, "next big thing", "Last decades big* thing", Cambo Hospital patient.
Now, it's just a mess. Were blocking guys we have just hired let alone development players like Galvin.
*kinda last decades decent 5/8. Although Sezer did play some games at Halfback.
Apart from Sullivan, we are talking about 18 year olds and Doueihi, who will probably not be re-signed. People that think Doueihi will transition to centre are in for a rude shock. He’ll be moved on along with Nofa.
So there you have it, Luai, Sullivan, Fainu and Galvin. 4 halves like most clubs.
By the end of Luai’s contract, these kids will be 23. I’m sure with Origin, form, time on the bench in nothing games and injuries they’ll get plenty of chances as well.
I don’t think the path is blocked for these guys. They will need a year or two against men in reserves, time off the bench etc. if they are ready sooner, then so be it. Coaches find a way to get them game time. We can’t assume that they will all make it.
Galvin has played second row before and he says himself he is a 5/8. He may very well transition to lock or centre even. We just don’t know yet.
Talk about these kids prospects in NRL is a couple of years premature considering they haven’t even had a full season in reserves yet. Let’s give them time to establish themselves.
