OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

yes .. they have to start winning games … this three year funk they are in of 10 wins in 65 odd games is historic levels bad …

I know Richo has to multi task the issues around memberships, sponsors, home grounds and probably others … but the most critical thing he has to is to improve this team and start winning games … even winning 8 games a year and moving off the bottom is a modest first step but that’s starting to look like 2026 not 2025 the way things are heading …I have used the term that the squad is changing at a glacier pace …
I see where you are coming from but I feel you really need to give Richo a bit of time to do his job.. he Inherits a FVCKING mess, on and off the field.. he can’t just Waltz in and tear up contracts and sign players that are already contracted elsewhere,, this is why it takes a little time , 10 games is nowhere near long enough to change a culture , a mindset and a roster .. his track record really does speak for itself and give me a lot of confidence.. if it was not him , Richo himself taking it on I would be petrified and absolutely devoid of confidence.. but he came here fully prepared for the task with his eyes wide open and so far he has not disappointed me .. ( aside from letting ICE go ) .. we have so many issues onfield and off , but as he says , the job of the footy club is to win games and premierships .. and I hope and think he has the ability to accomplish this .. 🙏

I don't know whether offering Galvin an extension to drop the release request is necessarily the right thing we should be doing. The kid has 18 months before he can sign a deal with anyone else anyway, we still havent seen Latu fire a shot in anger yet, who's to say he isnt better than Galvin and were looking at another Brooks Moses situation.

Why would anyone be surprised that a kid who has been use to playing in rep teams and told how good he is his whole young life might act up after getting smashed - pretty sure this is not how envisioned his career to go. Good chance he might even think he is better than is. So he hates losing - I get it.

Not excusable.
He is a big part of the problem with our attack.
Show some humility, learn and grow.

Didn't excuse it but young people don't always act with humility or maturity in situations when they are frustrated. Dare say they can be self absorbed, especially ones who have never experienced failure. So if he has acted up he has some growing up to do. He also has a contract and far more interested about how the CEO manages that current situation.

The issue with this club at the moment it is easy for other clubs to entice him elsewhere . Tigers have to find a way to combat this, which is winning not coin.

Yes … what else can the Tigers offer ?

I understand it was $200k a year more …

Maybe get old mate from Meriton to lose a few golf bets with Galvin … but like I said …I dont think it’s all about the money …
Old mate doesn’t give anyone a dollar. We’d have to get him the redevelopment rights to Callan Park before he’d even consider making a contribution

Bad take he’s a good young player and we need to enforce contract and use leverage to extend the kid. If you keep letting players go it becomes a trend. We know this movie it’s been done to us many times before.
Look we should not have forced him to play injured.
I get Galvin being angry at this. I get Moses being angry at this. Heck I am angry at this and IMHO a strong strike against Benji "holiday" Marshall.

Otherwise, we need to punt the drama queens!
I am all down with enforcing contracts. If someone wants to scream "I want out", they can rot in reserve grade.

We need to avoid drama queens. Anyone signed with Moses tends to bring their own drama.

Because he was injured and because he should not have been playing injured I will give Galvin a benefit of the doubt.... Without that injury, I would seriously put him through contract hell.

We need people to hold to contracts. We do not need drama queens. Particularly 5/8 drama queens.

How do you know he was that injured? This is his past 4 weeks in defence.
89.3% tackle efficiency v Dragons from 28 attempts
Bye
90.3% tackle efficiency v Cowboys from 31 attempts
92% tackle efficiency v Dolphins from 25 attempts.
You don’t return stats like that with a broken hand. The injury is an excuse.
The people around him can envision him playing SOO and Test footy as well as win GFs. Can’t do that playing with us. Simple as that.

RE Galvin, he said he had a fractured hand.

Look I ain't his doctor. Your right, those stats are impressive. But I also understand him going "I want this hand to heal". Fractures can become worse if hit and if during that performance the hand gets hit.... He could be up for some serious surgery or permanent injuries.

Flip it. Bones take about 6 weeks. He has played for those 3 weeks. So why now?

We can only go on what info we get. I understand Galvin wanting to be rested when he has an injury and not ruin his footy career. I also must wonder at our medical staff, are we doing injury management right?

Comes down to is Galvin a show pony using this as an excuse OR Galvin has an injury and he wants to not ruin his body in his first year of footy.
Giving Galvin the benefit of the doubt, for now.

He's had no serious strapping on his hand for weeks bar a thin bit of tape around his wrist with some inspirational message on it... Id think a broken hand would have a bit more than that
I know the hand has a lot of small bones but if no strapping necessary it can't be that bad?

A fracture in the hand is painful but usually causes no more issues. They should have rested the kid in either case. It’s an excuse simple as that. We have only hardball on every young player wanting out. Forget being nice it’s a business.
