So for combining this years transfers and next years ones we want to get rid of …

we lose ice, bud, AJ, naden, Simpkin, and probably Steff.

That’s 6 first graders (benchies).

We only got luai and turuva.

Anyone else think we’re super light? Like who the hell gonna want to sign with us now for next year that’s a first grader?
 
The club is systematically removing the players that get in the way of the juniors, or constantly float in and out of the team, or bloat the salary cap.

Ice & Sullivan = cap relief

Kepaoa & Naden- cutting the cord on two nearly-there's

Simpkin- see Kepaoa & Naden.

Once we take off the panic-glasses, the realisation is that not one of these players were going to be responsible for turning the club around.

Utoikamanu & Galvin situations will be interesting to watch. I suspect Utoikamanu is actually the more important keep, as I think we are still good with decent young half options if the Galvin thing becomes untenable.

More players need to go. More juniors need to play. Players from outside the club coming in need to fit a purpose.

I think we are seeing a good case of pruning.

Its interesting you raise that because perhaps Richo sees the world a bit like you

He’s pretty confident, deep pockets can deliver quality.

I was looking at JL and his physique, I think it contributes a lot to the many strings in his bow. He can handle collisions, he’s extremely powerful.

It would be a disaster I reckon. Have a read of the Fox sports profile that was done on him back in January. Manly junior, grew up in Manly, lives in Manly, all his friends in Manly, wants to be a one clubber. It would be Josh Reynolds revisited. True professionals who rely on effort but in their hearts never really left the club they love, but doesn’t love them back any more. He would end up back there after a year on a train and trial deal, and he’d be happy about it.

This is pretty much the only exciting thing that happens with WTs these days.. The uncertainty and expectation of (yet another) clean out and a whole group of.new player arriving.
There's no excitement for anyone on The park for the 80 mins each weekend anymore.
I'd be hesitant in getting too many poms though, and I'm glad at this. Stage it seems. Like we are only sending. Players there and not the other way round... It's well known mainly only forwards make it in the NRL.
While we do need backs unless they're super fast I'd be passing on any British backs... We need fast strong &. nrl experienced guys

Surprised Salford want anything to do with us anymore after what we did to them with nofo... I suppose that's on them they took a punt and it lost badly

I just think at his best Smith is a cut above a truly elite talent
Hes obviously not happy at the chooks
Hes not accused of criminal matters no comparison with May
Doubt he would consider going to the bottom side anyway
However if Chooks don't want they might consider any deal to get so much money off their cap
 
Give this squad a chance and with maybe Naden and Sullivan leaving, money in the cap. 2 x experienced hard heads added this squad could be anything in 18months. Only way out is if these juniors play 50 games for the club.

Don't know if anyone has already brought this up, but here goes.

If we are releasing players mid season and freeing up top 30 positions this season, don't we have to have 30 players signed by a certain time during this season eg. 30th June or some other prescribed date?

If we can't get players as replacements mid season to make up these numbers, what do we do?

Do we once again promote players from within that supposedly have potential just to make up the numbers?

Don't we have too many players signed like that already because we couldn't get anyone and we just had to make up the numbers?

Am I missing something here, surely Richo has a plan and there is something in the pipeline.

Good questions you have asked. I wouldn't be surprised if at least two positions are filled from within.

There must be a reason why Richo's targeting Super League for Bud.
If as the article says we are kicking in a substantial amount for Salford to sign him then I'm sure he could find a new club in the NRL. Backup halves are in short supply and Bud's been improving the last few weeks.
