IMO, Galvin has played well for a rookie.
1. Defence has been his biggest asset.
2. Very mobile across the park in attack and looking for runners BUT rarely, if ever, breaks a tackle or steps around a player. He has no side step. Nor electric speed. Zero tries.
Early days with plenty youthful enthusiasm and still on the learning curve.
Best advice, block out the outside noise as best you can and concentrate on improving your game. Listen to your coach, bide you time; and reflect on where you're at the end of the season.

And remember, other clubs looking at you probably think you are destined to be a lock or second row as well and will only tell you so after you have signed up?
And you will be down the pecking order.

Hes 92 kgs now,but needs to bulk up to fill his 6/3 frame
He will always be a very good footballer,just like those two were..and maybe better...but his future is in the pack ....somewhere

I said it before, there is no way you can diet and train at an elite level and not put on mass. He's 18 and skinny, but as he tries to increase his power and strength he'll put on weight.

And he has no choice but to increase power and strength to keep up with the demands of weekly football - otherwise he'll start getting thrown around and be ground down physically by the weekly contact. He'll get injured.

Being 6'4" already there's a lot of bones for the meat to grow on. He's likely to keep growing into his mid 20s and usually that comes with natural weight gain.

And already he's not remotely quick for a half. He's not getting any faster.

They are only shopping him because $500,000 to $600,000 is too much to pay for an apprentice.
They free up a top 30 spot and some cash to shop for someone more urgently required.

My evidence is he is now in the top 30 for the team who have one the last 3 premierships. I've wasted enough time on you. You can pick this up again after the grand final if you wish.

I agree with this. Just because he and his parents want him to play 6 long term, doesn't mean we or his next club should play him there.

Despite his hamstring issues this year, I still think Latu Fainu should be our long term 6. Also seems a lot less selfish than Galvin. Looking forward to seeing him back when he's fully fit.

This hasn't painted Galvin in a good light at all.

People aren't responding well to this drama with Galvin. Had a quick browse on what's being said on other forums and social media and its all very negative.

I agree, but sometimes a show of good faith needs to be done too. A small upgrade immediately may improve chances of an extension down the line. It may not as well, but it'll only help chances.

Not everything can be quid pro quo.

No extension mentioned, fair enough.
Lets see how this all pans out over the next 2 seasons.
I expect after next season we will all have a much better perspective of where we are going and who to retain or who to move on.

Good post. Being a second row forward doesn't prevent you from receiving a large contract. There are plenty of examples of second row forwards on large contracts.

He should go and have a heart to heart with his mate Tallyn Da Silva. I've listened to him a number of times and his parents must be very proud of him. He is a young player to build the club around as he has his act together now and is very humble. It is good to see there are good influences within the younger playing group.
