I just re-checked he’s 26, but still prime age for an NRL player.
27 in November. Age isn’t an issue.

In addition to this post, can someone explain what Bula does as a fullback that Staines could not do better ?Staines doesn't get enough good ball, he is under utilised in my honest opinion. He takes the ball up strongly when he comes infield to give the forwards a break.
He is lightning fast, if he could get his hands on the ball more often and I mean good ball not hospital passes or passes below his knees or above his shoulders (like he seems to cop a lot) he and the team would be a lot more potent in attack.
He is also a damn good defender for his size especially considering he suffered that perforated bowel, others coming back from injuries haven't been as "brave" as he has, Adam Douehi is a good example.
I think any of these journos talking about some kind of "transformation" of Brooks must have never watched him play footy. He's playing more or less the same output as at the Tigers, he just has some much better players around him to take up his slack.
For example The Mole here says it's great that Brooks can take pressure of DCE, but actually the opposite is true, that DCE takes pressure of Brooks who can focus on the strengths of his running game.
Mole then talks about Blore, which is really the same deal. Always been a willing player who had a terrible run of injuries at Penrith and Tigers, never really got enough game time to max out his performances. I still think he's rather average at Storm but he does his job and Storm aren't looking for stars, they are looking for willing contributors to an already excellently-coached system. Mole says "Tigers may regret letting him go" which is a massive oversight of the fact that actually Panthers were the first to let Blore go.
The problem with Tigers is we can't only recruit and hold onto average honest first-graders. We need game breakers to help convert those willing performances into wins. For many games of the past few rounds Tigers have been well in contention for the win, to be let down by inexperience, ill-discipline and dumb play. We have a lot of guys who haven't played much first grade. Shawn Blore doesn't change that equation at all, which is why at least I think the signings of Luai and Turuva are very encouraging for Tigers.
Have a bit of insider info on this one & let's just say Blore going was all Fulton.Blore is playing well…Bellamy ain’t going to be starting duds …I actually thought he played well here when he wasn’t injured … why they let him go when he wanted to stay here I’ll never know … Benji was all over that call too..
Defence mainly. Bigger body.In addition to this post, can someone explain what Bula does as a fullback that Staines could not do better ?
I saw that on Saturday afternoon, his defence was outstanding.Defence mainly. Bigger body.
Keep To’a and I would give Staines one last crack playing NRL as a winger before pulling the plug on him, but it seems like Benji has written him off already.Ravalawa would walk into our 17, he'd be the best winger at the club by a country mile. But he's still not good enough for almost every other club. That's how atrocious our roster management is. Rava is stupid, and he can't defend to save himself, but neither can any of our players. At least he's big, fast and strong which is why he craps all over our tiny, slow and weak babies.
if we can offload Naden, Toa, Feledy, Lobb and possibly Staines, as well as release Faatape and Alaimalo then there might be spot for him
Neither Lobb or Faatape are taking up top 30 spots this year or next at this stage.Sad reading isn’t it that Naden, Toa, Feledy, Lobb, Faatape, Alaimalo are all taking up too 30 spots! There’s 6 players from the backline alone taking up nrl spots without even looking at the forwards. Our roster is putrid.
Staines is an NRL winger and with Luai he will see more and better ball. I am unsure as to why Staines attracts so much enfilade fire as he is a genuine first grader who doesn't lack courage.Keep To’a and I would give Staines one last crack playing NRL as a winger before pulling the plug on him, but it seems like Benji has written him off already.
The rest of them can’t help us be any better in 2025 so we might as well offload them ASAP.
They're both taking up development contracts, which are fulltime NRL contracts. Faatape was probably upgraded to top 30 at eh deadline, Lobb is still contracted next season.Neither Lobb or Faatape are taking up top 30 spots this year or next at this stage.

Staines gets smashed in the middle, doesn't have the evasion of Bula. I think Turuva takes Staines' spot next year. I just hope we find a metre eating winger for the other side. Ravalawa would be a good option, but he's about as dumb as Naden so that's a worry. In addition to this post, can someone explain what Bula does as a fullback that Staines could not do better ?
Thank you Tim Sheens. It’s a horror story… and add paying Klemmer and Bateman $1.5 m next year …. They are massively behind the 8 ball already
Is this a genuine rumour? To’o can name his price. He is proven winner and would be amazing. Doubt it’s true but damn I hope soFor To'o? Of course!
If we have the same pack of forwards next year I don’t see our new half being able to make much difference.
Staines comes in for a disproportionate amount of heat on this forum. Not perfect but as you say he is an NRL quality winger.Staines is an NRL winger and with Luai he will see more and better ball.
