Benji 2025 and Beyond

Yvonne and friends on FoxLeague put up a graphic of our incoming signings.

The entire panel, including Brandy and Cronk spoke about how they will improve our roster.

Luai
Turuva
Skelton
Royce
Bird
And Horsbrough (likely)

Things will be better next year in that aspect and perhaps Luai alone will be all it takes to drive some standards that Benji may or may not appear to drive.

Accountability comes from the top, and the players will do whatever is deemed acceptable by the boss. The buck stops with Benji, which then stops with Richo. It's that simple. Sentiment Will cost us big time next year if Richo doesn't make some tough decisions and have a long, hard think about how we change our culture. And I'm not talking writing some moto on the wall.
Not sure what kinda picture you’re trying to paint of Benji but to imply he would deem those sort of errors as acceptable is just wrong. He doesn’t have to come out and tell the media afterwards that he sprayed them for that because it’s simply fuel for an already hectare long dumpster fire.
I have as many queries about Benji as the next and hate to sound like a broken record but he’s not out there dropping balls cold. I would be incredibly shocked if he’s telling the boys after the game oh it’s all good bro that they dropped the ball 15 times, it’s simply not happening

We aren’t seriously going to entertain another off season with him are we? Look, I will always choose my words carefully cos he’s not just anybody. I love the guy, probably the biggest club legend we have. But get serious, we cannot waste another season with him at the helm. Idk what the club does. As there aren’t a stack of quality options, and we probably missed the boat for a guy like Brad Arthur. But please, it cannot happen again in 2025. If it does, the goose is already cooked. Luai or no Luai.
Yes next year is going to be the big one for us-all eyes will be on Benji. He needs a more experienced coach to help him, but I'm not sure he would like that- but if he loves the club and we all know he does, he should do what's best for the club.
Otherwise we will have a total player walkout.!

An important life lesson for the young Tiger lads. Benji told them to have fun. It's like telling young guys to have fun at a bar and they sink ten quick scotches and pass out. They need to learn to think ahead because it's actually more fun to have enough discipline to win.
I think the result was a complete reflection on that attitude.
The whole team must be divided at the moment, you have your senior guys just grafting away trying to stay in the contest as best as possible where as the young guys are told just have fun don’t worry about the fundamentals of Rugby league.

Classic Wayne Bennett deflecting.

Early errors from the players killed us and Benji just took the bullets. They weren’t even made from playing expansive.

I’m not convinced though. I mean we were supposed to have recruited extremely well for the start of last season and again for this season.
These signings are better again, but will it change anything?

Made sure I slept on it overnight so I didn't let emotion get in the way.
I don't believe the club will sack Marshall until at least halfway through next year. I know it's been said that Richo believes in Marshall, but I think Richo believes in the vision, not necessarily the coaching ability. In fact there has been several times where he has said he didn't know if Benji could coach or not, but his job was to give him what he needs to get the job done.
It was a deplorable performance last night. The claims during the week about setting up for next year went out the window. Benji is right, it was his fault, entirely. There is going out and playing football, and then there is stupidity. A haphazard first half should have and most importantly with a decent coach would have been reigned in for the 2nd half. We played with no respect for the opposition, the ball, the fans and sponsors and really got spanked in exactly the way we deserved.
There were very few times that we went to Parras end of the field and didn't come away with points. It didn't take Einstein to work out if we held the ball and put pressure on them at their end we would be right in the game.
A simple message from the coach to control the ball and kick deep to the corners would have done the job. You know...coaching.
The same with short kick offs.........we persisted with giving Parra back the ball 40 metres out from their own line to begin their set, until like the 76th minute or something where we finally decided to kick off deep. Again, coaching.
Marshall was instinctive as a player and that just doesn't translate to coaching. The players are not him. I heard he is the first coach since Paul Langmack to win the spoon in his first year, well look how Langmacks coaching career went, because Benji will be the same.

Who did we recruit this year?
Faatape?

Fainu bros? They've been good.

Jerome Luai
Sunia Turuva
Royce Hunt
Jeral Skelton
Jack Bird
Possibly Corey Horsbrough.

We're losing;

Papalii, played like he never wanted to be here.
Stefano, overrated and thinks he's better than he really is.
Bateman, possibly - probably past it and not what we need.

Had a bunch of kids at his disposal in the toughest competition in the world. Settle down.
100%.

This place melted down big time last night.

Once Api was binned, the game was long gone and they played like it. It's a miracle it wasn't gone sooner tbh. The harder they tried, the worse it got.

They were putrid. Poor teams have putrid games.

It did sum up the season perfectly though, right up to and including Latu's goal hitting the post at the end. Couldn't have been more accurate.

Put that game, that season and hopefully a decent chunk of that squad behind us and focus on next year.

Interested to see how we go. Two things for sure.

More points in us.
Edge defenders are better.

Unknowns

Can our pack compete?
Can we stay healthy and not rely on some poor depth?

It’s the same script every year. “We look much stronger on paper next year”. Yet we never are. Our losses and gains are pretty interchangeable outside of Luai. I mean, how are journeymen like Bird and Tururva, who has been blessed to be on the end of the backline of the best club in the modern era going to make? Royce Hunt is good, but he’s negated by the loss of Stefano and Ice.

Bring in Cronk to help Benji. He seems to think he's the smartest bloke to ever wear a jersey.
As if Cronk would ever lower himself to even walk through the doors at Concord. He looks down at struggling clubs with disdain.
