It's been a long time since the only expectation of a winger was to be fast and score try's in the corner and that's basically all Saab can do, hes just a faster alex Johnston.

There is still a place for them in teams like manly or rabbitohs where they have a fast and creative spine that creates the space for them constantly but in our team he would just be a taller Staines with half the heart
U r starting to sound like the scarecrow, dropping addo carr for some nobody with those theories!
Of any one had half the heart of Staines, there would just be no heart left. As I don’t find a more half hearted player than him. Just dies enough ti keep his spot, nothing more. When his position is under review, he plays just a bit better to retain his spot.

My nominations for Jersey Flegg Player Of The Year are ...

Brandon Tumeth, Bailey Hodges, Zak Clarke, Iverson Matai, Cayne Nicholas, Herman Tofaeono

Commendations to Vaka Aho, Lachlan Broederlow (promoted early to NSW Cup) & Kobie Wilson (missed a chunk with injury).

Greatest impact from SG Ball player stepping up ...

Maxwell Taotua or Jared Haywood

Who do regular watchers think were POY?

With so much movement it's best impossible to say who was most consistent.
Faagutu and Clarke most likely, Matai and Hammond maybe.
Can't say I've been able to watch too many games this season though

POY for me would have to be Chris Faagutu (even though he spent time on the sideline he was our best forward everytime he played), or Zak Clarke

Bailey Hodges, Vaka Aho & Cayne Nicholas are tough ones since they spent majority of their time in nsw cup on the back end

Another player that who I thought had a great year once he was in Flegg was Noah Johannssen, younger brother of Tim.

POY: Chris Faagutu
Best Back: Max Taotua
Best Forward: Chris Faagutu
Rookie: Cameron Kanaan or Haywood

Your suggested awards highlight some of the outstanding young talent at the club. Good post.

Totally forgot about Faagutu amongst all the good forwards in Flegg. Yes so true! And thanks for your reports through the season @AceofSpades .

It’s been a pleasure watching these guys when I got the chance to. But moving forward I hope we keep the likes of Haywood, Large, Kanaan, Makasini, Taotua and Johannssen all in Flegg moving forward. These kids at their age have showed they can play and not look out of place in this age group

I can’t find the link, but I read we have signed a fullback for our 2025 Jersey Flegg team named Creedance Kelly-Donovan who is from the North Coast and comes with big wraps.
Donovan is a famous footballing family from the NSW North Coast. The Courier Mail had a story about speed demons of the Langer Cup and Creedance Kelly-Donovan was one of the top two.

Look forward to keep crossing names off that list as they move elsewhere

Once again no intel, this is a possible Flegg trial team for tomorrow at Leichhardt. Based on the 2025 squad minus those playing up in NRL trial or in SG Ball comp.

1 Creedance Kelly-Donovan (from Qld comp, highly rated wing/fullback)
2 Te Heremia-Tukere
3 Fangavalu Hammond
4 Roy Quiroz-Mapasua
5 Brendan Naicori
6 Jon Ibrahim
7 Iverson Matai
13 Archie Riley
12 Nehemiah Wautai-Davis
11 Elijah Pettit-Young
10 Jekope Sovau
9 Josese Lanyon (James from Harold Matts big bro)
8 Tom Fisher
Interchange from Jack Burrows, Kian Edmed, Ryan Polsen, Heith Pritchard, Jeremiah Leatigaga, Levi Conti
