Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I was responding to

“SHOOSH

Which experienced NRL forward is not expected to be at his club next season, despite being contracted and having played more than 20 games this year for the top 8 side?”
This whole chat appears to be about Toby Rudolf. not NAS (nelson aS).

While Toby is on 500k and NAS is on 900k, I would rather NAS..

Toby does more tackling. Both are low minute players (although I think in NAS's case it's belamy keeping him off the field.). NAS just has such great impact.

Rudolph was playing 45-50 minutes in the back end of the year, not really what I’d call low minutes for a prop especially one in a strong pack. Without checking I’d say 50 minutes would be above average for props.

I’d definitely rather NAS as a player, but I’m not sure he’s worth close to double what Rudolph would cost.

I think if we got either they both improve our pack.

According to this:

His most was 55 minutes. Although the best bit.
At the start of the year he seemed to be playing 30-40 minute stints.
Later he got up around the 40-50 minute mark.

With Hunt who is also low minutes, I am a little worried. Toby only makes sense with Hunt in our team, otherwise I don't know what we are seeing here other then "we need forwards ... BAD".
Lol I missed read some stats there when I first looked lol.

He finished hos season stronger than he started though.

Not a fan of him but Rudolph is not a low minute forward. His minutes are slightly lower than most starting front rowers because Sharks unlike other teams typically run a 4 forward bench.

🤔
This list is massive. Ruling out any recent resignings and key players at their club; there remains the following from teams.

Knights: Brailey, Elliot, Hetherington, KPP, Thompson.
Manly: Brown, Bullemor, Lawton.
Bulldogs: Hughes, Bailey, Morrin.
Cowboys: McIntrye, McLean, Taumalolo, Neame.
Sharks: Hazelton, Rudolph, Kaufusi, Wilton, Talikai.
Roosters: Butcher, Whyte.
Penrith: no one stands out.
Melbourne: Kamikimika, Welsh.

Yeah it could be either one or the above. Personally,
not a fan of Rudolph on or off the field, he's a goose

Surely we can convince a couple from that lot?

So you don’t rate Chris Faagutu as a football player ?
I'd say it has more to do with the fact we have 3 young locks and should probably move one on.

Edit: Especially because any squad prediction i see on here for next year doesn't include a single one of them in the 17. We can't have 10% of our top 30 be young locks that are lucky to get 5 games between them all season.

I’d suggest he’s not the one.
I've not watched enough of the juniors this year to make any suggestions. I was just taking a stab on the original posters reasoning.. What makes you think he isn't the one though? and who do you think is?

Matamua was the one for me as he just looks completely overwhelmed any time he plays. He did have a great game mid - late this year though.. I can't remember against who, but he came on and completely changed the game, then when he was taken back off we fell to pieces.

I think Chris has a very high ceiling and the attributes to make it in the big league.
Justin is developing a little slower, but quite skilful.
So we've got;

Chris Faagutu
Justin Matamua
Kit Lualilii

What's the best way forward with them?
Should we keep all three?

How is Justin at 21 with 3 seasons where he has played nrl developing slower then Chris who is 21 and has played 4 games of nsw cup and no NRL.

My point was that we have 3 young lock type players who aren't nrl starters and all the same age. Kit isn't being released so then it's one of Matamua and Faagutu and one has 3 seasons of NRL at 21 and the other has been playing Flegg till 21. Also 2 are local juniors while Chris is from QLD

Now if Faagutu is considered a prop then mayby he is up against Miller, Sione Fainu and Joahnssen for a spot and again he prob isn't winning out.

As he has been playing mostly Flegg I've not see him play much but that's just my view based on the outside circumstances

Then watch him play.
