You cannot seriously raise an argument, in all honest human and logical faith, again my mind explodes, that tries to say that there is some kind of equivalence between Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon and any other candidate, not just within the Dems, but any from his own party either. The depth of proven and ongoing negative behaviours from Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon are basically without precedent.

The only argument that can be logically proposed is there is no equivalence - they are being measured on a different set of criteria. Half of Americans simply don't care what Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon did, because he did do all these things, but they just don't care enough to stop him being President again. It's not that he's innocent or that anyone else matches his level of negative behaviour, it's that America is so polarised that half the nation will overlook any of his proven negatives if he tells them a fairly basic message about how he's going to "go after their enemies".

I never said it was a good bet. I was responding to the other poster who was bullish about Harris' chances. While punters have a tendency to overreact to insignificant data in elections, the writing was on the wall very early. The fact that Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon always outperforms the polls by ~3% and the polling average was almost dead even between Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon and Harris was very ominous for her.
 
It's unfortunate that much like the rest of their outdated and Byzantine political system, Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon needs to wait until Jan to take power. But it gives him ample time to form his administration.

He inherits a strong economy with most of the key economic indicators aside from unemployment (4.1%v 3.5%) on par with Jan 2020 before covid turned the world to sh*t. More importantly, he will have a Republican senate and house, and a supine Supreme Court.

This is his chance to deliver on his agenda. He could go down as the most consequential president in modern history or an absolute f*ck up. If the latter, he will have no-one to blame but himself.

It's currently 230-210, with Harris looking good in PA. A lot of the remaining votes are also postals, which favour the Dems too. Remember last election? These votes take a while to come.
