New major sponsor.

And a try-hard one at that....

Have these people learnt nothing?

Imagine the marketing round table:
"okay team, so we really need something to turn our fortunes around"
"hmmm. Who is our core market?"
"I know! Middle-aged rich guys!"

"omg! I've got just the ad! This is gonna be great!"

Man, I am so glad I don't drive a jag.

Still, I'm happy for Boney M for getting work in 2024....

I was actually thinking about that Jag add. ..

It's weird, maybe weird to get attention. But it reminded me of another car add. a successful one:

I think it was porsche. But they had the Add in Black N White, with old German engineers throwing buckets of Colour at a car, the colour was actual colour so you saw a colour car on a black N white background.

The Colour adds targetted a different audience. A younger audience interested in colour, not a revvd up porsche.

The Jag add really doesn't feature the car. It's stupid and it's stupid maybe to get attention. But it seemed more a Post-modern art expo add, the kinda thing aimed at over 50's art critics.

I suspect that Jag has lost their rev head rich customers to BMW/Porsche/Merc/etc. So Jag decides to go for rich women who have no real idea what a car is like but enjoy a chardonney while browsing at an art expo. ...

It's a dumb add.
Was it dumb on purpose?

I think I've seen the CEO or something in a pride parade - not that I care, but it could easily account for it being signed off on.

I think it is trying to be avant garde and jarring, but the thing is it's 2024 and that visual no longer has that shock value; Even what I saw of the Paris Olympics opening ceremony was far more evocative of that momentary cognitive dissonance.

In this day and age it strikes me as an advert equivalent of "2003 called. It wants its joke back"

I'm not being pretentious, but I think it's passé and eye rolling. At least the Porsche ad had a car!

Anyone could be excused for thinking a new unisex (or whatever... ) fragrance called Jaguar had just been released.

It really looks the epitome of "Go woke, go broke" and they're 2 years late to that party.

All advertisements are supposed to attract attention to the product thay are promoting and the Jaguar one does so.The people who put it together achieved their objective,it may not be a satisfying advertisement but it worked perfectly

People are talking about Jaguar; not for the right reason but as the saying goes any publicity is good publicity. Probably why we have such a large fan base - heaps of negative publicity.

It doesn’t attract attention to its product one iota. Where in that mess was the new vehicle range? What are they actually selling? What colours will it be available in? What is the price range? When will it be released?

Yea, that last comment sums it up.
"2 years late to that party".

Or maybe 20 years.

Ultimately advertising is the embodyment of "Putting Lipstick on a pig". Yes it got us talking about Jag, but it did nothing to get us inclined to buy one.

Spot on, But will it boost Jag sales?

This add gives Jaguar coverage, media space and Name repitition.

Ultimately if they don't sell one more Jag, it's a failure. Flip it, the advertisement company got the product out there and that's their role in the process.

Any publicity ISN’T good publicity when it hurts your target audience without much chance of replacing them.
The Tigers turnaround for a newer audience will hopefully come this year… the opposite for Jaguar.

That’s great, a company the size of pepper has jumped on board. All positive, hope it all pays off on the field.

Hope the team has a good off season
Is Pepper really an impressive major sponsor? I might be underestimating them but I don’t know anyone who is a customer of theirs. I think as the losses become less frequent and the wins increase the premier companies will show more interest. Not about to laud Richo for this one.

Sorry CKT, I should have prefaced that comment with "Sarcasm".

Google search tells me they are one of Australia’s biggest non bank car and mortgage lenders. Not as big as the banks, but certainly big in their sector. Securing a major sponsor is a big deal and we should celebrate it. Yeah wins will bring more to the table which will earn us more, but securing these guys given our results last few years is a good job, especially not knowing what else was available.

I've only heard good things about them from a small amount of people not long after every 1 was bashing the banks 8yrs ? ago, up until about 6 mths ago., Company looks feasible on paper, woke n committed to doing the right thing

I work in a major bank , in Corporate lending. Im surprised how many clients have a facility or two with Pepper . Their lending policies are more “commercial “ than the majors . They are a decent player in the 2nd tier lending market .
