Yeah when I heard this on the pod, I thought gee that is not ideal for off-season training given the injury risk (muscular & stress fractures) especially for a 110kg bloke who usually does 10-20km runs. I have run one years ago after 6 months of building up to 35km runs in training and it is arduous on the body. Anyway good on him for taking on the challenge!Anyone who listened to May's podcast - why is he running a marathon? Must be for a cause? Not sure it's ideal for a 100kg footballer to run 42km on the road in December, but from what I've read on here, he seems determined and has a belief in himself to be able to do it, be leader of the group when he arrives, and achieve big things for the rest of his footy career.
Or perhaps he's trying to counter the "footy isn't important in my life" quote earlier in the year to take some heat off?
