The debenture system only allowed for this level of WA control into the football club with the commissioning of HBG following 2019.

Prior to that, WA never had majority control over football club matters win Western Suburbs or the WT.

It's a new system.

Now let’s look at the results of WT since HBG gained majority control:

2020 - 11th
2021 - 13th
2022 - 16th
2023 - 17th
2024 - 17th

Wade is leaking now as he knows 8 years probably sees him never to return unless there is a major board change at HBG , a new board can overturn the decisions made and time given to Wade and co , in saying that Rick has been part of the team who have failed for a long time ,
HBG have done well financially from Pokies and I don’t care what anyone says with out them these clubs would not be making any thing like they do , BUT the football side ( Board has been crap for years ) no experience in running a football club and understanding what’s needed has been the issue and still remains , until we have
1 director from Balmain , 1 Director from Wests , 1 director from HBG and the balance independent issues will remain , but 1 thing I would say is those selected from Balmain , Wests , Ashfield should,be new faces that have never served on the football board at Wests ,Tigers

I love this point about fresh blood from the foundation clubs. I’m a Balmain Football Club member and I haven’t been to an AGM since the joint venture started, I have no idea if there are people genuinely interested in representing a club that doesn’t play at NRL level and thus, by my understanding, the people on the board just get re-elected as there’s little or no competition for spots. As these people become too old to serve, or pass away, I don’t know how you find people to replace them as pre 1999 is starting to be a long time ago.

We need more numbers and the media to step it up on these 4 clowns at HBG , show me one on the current HBG board who deserves the right to control a club that has 27,500 member and also stop a review that all agreed to install just so they can keep spots on the Wests Tigers board , that’s where this is heading , they want control of both and none are qualified , not even close to being qualified , soem one needs to lead take over just like Romero and Burgess did and oust these fools

Yep it would be great to see some skilled people plus a few ex players not 75 years old jump on , this is not a knock at older folks as I’m 61 but just need people not long out of the game and not living on the past , people from Wests Tigers who supported Balmain maybe , even though they have no Top grade teams they should be in there working along to bring back higher grade teams , I’m ok with

Chris Lawrence , if he was a Balmain supporter I would chase him for a spot on the Balmain board , this type person is what I was thinking , along with a savvy Businessman with plenty cash and contacts to help rebuild a broken club , another would be a gun marketing person to help rebuild the brand , and so on

I think you’re conflating the issues. You want changes on wests nrl side that is fine , but your overreaching how the owners and its own members run their own organisation.

How are HBG not qualified to run the registered club , they been doing so for eons and it’s profitable and members of wests Ashfield the actual club have no issues .

Has the board stopped Richo signing players? Did they stop him signing May ?

I’d argue , and it would be a pretty compelling argument , that the any success the nrl team has had , which is barely anything at all , has been in spite of the “old brigade” , not because .

I think it goes back even further too. They had majority board (5 from 9 I think) in 2016, 2017 & 2018 - Source.

So finishes of 9th, 14th and 9th across those years.
