What are the factors impacting the young Magpies ? Disappointing start for them . Balmain boys on fire
We are in the midst of a Global rebuild
Need both feeder teams strong,
If we stay on track, We will be a juggernaut
Some closer observers have said they're a smallish team plus they've lost some decent players.
1. Most of the team is 1 year younger then many others
2. Their spine players have left - Large, Large, Isdale, Conti
3. Unlike other clubs we have 2 teams so if you split the other clubs sg ball sides in 2 they would likely not both have great yrs either
4. It's kids footy could be a thousand other things. In reality you expect 2 or 3 of any sg ball side to go onto nrl and in this side it's probably already clear Makasini, Taupau Moors, Godinet and Duncombe Plus some who gave left/ gone to NRL already - Galvin, Luke Laulii

Any word around the ground about Logan Deinenger/Brookes injury?
Not that I heard.
Its great to see Balmain doing so well. Really gutsy win. Manly were their own worst enemy, particularly in the second half, but the Tigers played smart footy. The kicking game was on point from the Tigers halves and kept going to what worked well. Manly really only had threats in their massive prop, and Large, while both were very good, collectively, our team just played better. The Tigers controlled the ball and executed better. Great start to the year.

It's this. The coach has simply done an amazing job.
Not many teams at sgb Ball level could lose their 3 best players, their fullback, halfback and hooker, be down by two tried and still come back to win.
They're as well organised side, they play with plenty of grit and determination. There were few standouts this weekend, just everyone putting in 100%
our props were excellent, halves did well. De Vries again with impact off the bench. Bunt doing a heap of work. A sensational win
Onitoni had 3 clean line breaks, excellent running game but his passing, defence and kicking were pretty average.

Wests have a massive problem at the moment. For a club to be promoting itself as a development club and then have such little talent is simply unacceptable. This Wests team is just awful, who dropped the ball so badly? Why aren't there any older players capable of playing at this level? You can't just say we're a year young so we'll just lose every week.
The spine is diabolical. Of we're a development club, why is there no talent in the spine? With so much talent in the South West, why are there no good spine players? If there aren't any at that age group, then we need to recruit from elsewhere like every other club. Our lack of recruitment is bewildering.
If you're a young player you wouldn't be looking at Wests and think that's a club I can grow at. Over the past decade we've been the worst club in the comp at developing young players. Is it any wonder? We don't have a culture of success or excellence. Whether we don't have ideas on how to turn talented youngsters into stars, or we do but just can't execute these plans whatsoever, it's deeply concerning. Whomever built this squad they did a terrible job.
Desperately need isdale or Conti back. The lack of effort and smarts from this Wests squad is unacceptable.

We have a player named Logan Brookes-Deinenger he’s a fullback, and a pretty good one at that.

I agree that whoever allowed the entire spine to walk needs a lesson in player retention.
Im not knowledgeable of the kids at this level, but recognise all 4 of those players names and even know what they look like.
They werent just guys making up the numbers...
This weekend they have an easier game. Good luck to them. Keep working hard guys and the wins will come.

its a weird one when you consider Isedale is the coaches son ….riding the pine for the sharks right now .
