Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I've been saying for months that if the Tigers didn't get Galvin locked up before the start of the season he was as good as gone. Now it sounds like he never really engaged with even discussing an extension.

Whatever, it is what it is. It pisses me off that we don't seem to be able to retain any of our best young players - I mean, I know some are going to leave but I honestly can't think of the last time we had a genuinely coveted young player and they didn't sign elsewhere at the first opportunity or sooner (well, Tedesco was the second opportunity TBF but even that took a superhuman effort to stop him leaving... for Canberra, FFS). But c'est la vie.

What really irritates me is that the club must have known progress wasn't being made on an extension with Galvin, yet they still let Large go at least in part on the basis that he was stuck behind Galvin. There's a good chance this will end up being Papenhuysen all over again. If we're going to keep losing our young talent we have to maintain the queue coming through behind it, at least.

And people say Richo is great getting things done , so how the hell do u let large walk without getting Galvin signed , it doesn’t pass the pub test , but that seems to be what he has been good at letting players walk

I think he's made more good moves than bad but I'll criticse where I think it's appropriate - and this one looks like a cock up. Nobody's perfect and I'm not about to suggest running the guy out of town, but the reality is we're in a position where we can't afford too many mistakes.

I was optimistic GNR last year and thought you were just being too pessimistic in us keeping Galvin. Iv got to be honest I'm on your page now, of he wanted to stay he would have. Get Latu in now imo he's our future 5/8 anyway even if Galvin stays. Galvin is destined for a ball playing forward role, if he's not willing to commit with us, why should we commit to him.
Idk about this lock business. I’m yet to hear one commentator suggest such a move. The only place I have heard he’s destined for the forwards is this forum. But everyone seems to be reading writing on the all for us signing May, yet there’s writing on the wall for Galvin leaving too

- Asks for a release twice last year
- Spits the dummy in the dressing room after the game
- Won’t commit to the club, uses the old “Leaving it up to my manager”
- Management notifies other clubs of their intentions to take him to the market

If you were looking for indications that a player and his management wanted out of a club the first chance they got, you couldn’t find any better examples of the above. The question will be what will do with him in 26.

When did he spit the dummy in the dressing room?

Just wondering what our cap situation will be if Olam gets medically retired say this week and Klem ends up at Saints as widely reported in regards to roster spots and dollars in the cap.

Disagree. Rationally speaking, if I was Galvin I'd want to see how we go this season before committing to my future. I am buying less and less into the Galvin hype so I couldn't care less either way. If Luai doesn't take control of this team I am done as a supporter I've had enough.
How rational is it though? - It's easy to say (and easier to disagree)

The 'waiting and seeing' is costing Galvin about 300k a year.
6k in his hand right now for every week he 'waits'.

Surely that makes the equation a whole lot less, No?
That's Huge - Even bigger for a kid,
Anything could happen, He may never go on to make that sort of money.

Mate, we’ve already released Stef, Bateman and Ice. You’d think we’d already be in a strong position. There’s no point being cashed up if you aren’t going to spend it.

Another with his head in the clouds. It’s not about winning or losing. He does not want to be here. What’s a few wins going to mean in the scheme of things for the next 4-5 years.

Would you admit you acted like a little brat if it made it into the news? The denial means nothing.
Galvin also put to bed a report that said he was telling teammates he was happy to be leaving.

"Absolute lie," he said.

"I would never do that to any of my teammates or Benji [Marshall] or any of the coaching staff. I would never disrespect them like that.

"I would never walk around the sheds yelling out I want to quit. It's all BS."

Again, why would his word on the matter carry any weight? Are you expecting him to admit these things? Do you know the damage it would do to his brand?
