OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

His kicks haven't been great. He let in two tries recently vs warriors one being the crucial match deciding one and one against niukore. The week before he let nikorima outmuscle him. He ran for 11 metres. 11 metres on the weekend. That is luke brooks in a tigers jersey numbers. At least luke would set up a try and not be a complete liability and passenger
I’ve just rewatched the two tries he supposedly let in … 1st one Sione Finau’s hesitation caused Niukore to easily slide through the gap. 100% avoidable if Finau moves up and marks his man

Once again Finau was at fault but more through ability .. Bird got back in time for it to be a 3 v 3 situation but Finau just simply wasn’t fast enough to slide therefore Luai made the decision to jam him. He could have not followed through with the tackle so he could have chased, but other than that I fail to see how the 2 tries were on him lol

I have seen more in Luai than you, though I certainly agree on parts of it, particularly the Brooks comparison, writing late in the Knights live thread late in the game that the latter would be getting berated for page upon page on that performance alone.

Not seeing a line break or try assist in a month's worth of footy for a half is worrisome, regardless of what they might bring off the field. We cannot blame that on Galvin hogging the ball.

Is what I said not true? You could name 5 penrith players at least who are more important to their dynasty. Ivan was happy to let him go
LOL...bullshit

While Cleary has admitted Luai's impending change of management as complicated the talks for a potential contract extension, he was bullish about the two-time premiership winner's prospects of remaining with the Panthers. He said the club had made it clear in no uncertain terms that it would be their preference for him to stay.

“I want him to stay here, he wants to stay,” Cleary said. “But it is a little bit tricky because if he has done that, if he’s leaving his management, there’s a period where you can’t actually do anything.

“But he knows what we think of him, and I know how much he loves the place. He’s part of our team, he’s a local boy. It’s not just how he plays, it is how he connects our team and we definitely want him here long-term.”

I would utilise that bunny's energy by having him following up the middle on every tackle other than a wide shift, and even use him as a decoy when using a middle as the distributor for some of the shifts.

Galvin could be the modern Terry Lamb type backing up through the guts and scoring himself or throwing the last pass for plenty of tries.
I was actually surprised watching Turbo live at a game I was at, it's brilliantly simple the way he plays in attack, all he does is hang around the ruck waiting for a quick play the ball to inject himself, if he doesn't touch the ball it's enough to keep the D in two minds cause of how dangerous he is, it is so simple but so effective, just by sniffing around dummy half behind the hooker.

I’ve got Penrith mates who’ve watched him more than you and I combined x 10

They’ve all said Luai will be the hardest one to replace .. and it’s looking like it so far
They probably just mean the energy and vibes. Because he brings absolutely nothing on the playing side of things

It's quite pathetic tbh. The cognitive dissonance of our fans to find a new saviour while completely ignoring it is quickly becoming Luke Brooks 2.0, or worse...

Exactly, and Galvin has enough endurance to get involved elsewhere and still easily fill that role as well. It also allows Bula to do what he does best, chiming in on an edge or out wide.

Modern tv camera's don't give you a true reflection on the game . who has smarts or team tactics .Sadly think Turbo's career won't end in a fairy tale

They could afford Luai…just like manly can’t afford cherry now.
They offered him 850K for 2 years. He's not valued by them. They bought a young talented kid from parramatta to replace him, not an experienced or solid player. Shows how he's just a cog in a system

I would argue his kicks have actually been quite good, especially the mid field kicks. I the first half of the Warriors game, there was a period where the warriors went from starting their set on the 40m line and over the next few sets, they were driven back gradually until they were starting on the 20m line. Every kick was from luai and he was positioning them so that the ball carrier was contained by the defence straight away without room to run.

He also came very close to kicking 2 40 20s.

Id like to see him kick more contested bombs around the goal line rather than passing to Galvin to stab the grubber into the corner.

Agree that he missed that crucial tackle at the end, but he's still a very solid defender.

Well said. Any type of structured attack in the 20 starts with him.

2 concerns I have are his long kicking and his willingness to give others too much control, though I suspect that is Benji.

My main desire is a team that makes the 8 consistently, not a half that tops individual stats in a team that is bottom 4.
