Too right, now the aim has to be to get the team working in unison on avoiding surfaces and exploit gaps; once we have achieved that we will become a top 4 side. Until then we have to learn, and lean to identiy surfaces and gaps in game time.

I think Woods was always a Dogs junior. He is a gifted athlete and to me has potentially a much higher upside than Galvin. The one of interest maybe Alex Conti who was originally a Tiger. He has a game management skillset. Great kicking and passing game and is currently playing 14 for the Dogs in Flegg (Woods is 7)

We have players and coaching staff that understand what is required - and seriously it isn't that hard to show on a whiteboard or out on the training paddock. There is also no doubt in my mind that Benji and Co are capable of developing a simple game plan to focus our strenghts against a perceived oppostion weakness. So what is happening between the Captain's run and game time?

My gut feel is that we play much straighter in attack on the training paddock and our lateral running is resulting in players being out of postion, or assignments being missed. There is clearly an execution issue - it would be great to get to training and spend time watching how the Captain's run goes down and compare it to what is being executed so we can figure out where the issue lies.

Anyone in a postion to spy for the forum?

Its fallen apart because of the Galvin issue affecting team cohesion and spirit. He is the link man playmaker and his form has fallen off a cliff.He is playing like a slow weak school boy which he is. The sooner Luai is at 5/8 the better

I have it on good account that he especially and TDS to some extent don’t bond as well with the team as the rest of them do.

I think the whole Galvin thing has been more disruptive then I’ve given credit for

My take is that the "let Lachy play what is in front of him" experiment has run its course. I think we despo need Latu back and to stay fit for more than 5 minutes. I think Luai is being asked too often, or deferring too often, to giving Galvin the ball.

Latu at 7 and Luai at 6 lets both players handle the ball equally, Luai can focus on runs and kicks, Latu keeps us straight and he distributes fairly well. Latu also has a direct running game.

Currently with Galvin we spend too much energy trying to guess what he's going to do and where he will go. Yes he pokes through here and there, yes he has try assists but he throws 100 grenades a match with the hopes that a few will land in the enemy trenches. Ironically it's very Benji-like, where the lack of structure starts to hurt his team-mates and although we come hard at the end of most matches, its too frantic. There ends up a considerable lowlights reel to match the highlights reel, when really we are begging for a very modest Cooper Cronk-type performance where 90% of the stuff is solid and boring and dependable.

If Latu was back I'd be inclined to try Lachy at lock, so he can still have his efforts but he touches the ball way less and he gets a bit of defensive starch into his game. Or centres. Failing that, you drop him again.

With Latu out however I don't see what other changes you can make except to ask Luai to take more control and pass to Lachy less often.

I agree with this, and the Galvin experiment has run his course.

If Latu is not ready, I am using Mason or AD in the 6 with Laui as I think the team will respond to not having a guy in the team who has put a bullying claim in and says he is not happy with the coaching (and his only 19 but don't get me started)

No Player wants to play with an upstart kid who want everything and bags the club. Sorry but that's just the real world and the players would never say it
