OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

I still don't see how his style of play fits with the dogs - he wants his hands on the ball every set and drifts across field either looking for a hole or a runner. The dogs have been playing direct and then getting quick ball out wide to their centres and SR. To me his style is the total opposite to what the dogs are doing.
I wondered what hed be like if our forwards were regularly punching holes in the line and giving him and Luai much more time and space
Might finally get to see

It appears their junior development programme is coming along nicely at the WTs. Apparently our club can't develop junior players! I will go back as far as Tim Simona, Simon Dwyer, Benji Marshall, Robbie Farah, Mitch Moses, James Tedesco, Aaron Woods and Luke Brooks to tell them that is not correct.
Maybe we should take a break from the NRL competition and just become a talent factory. Clubs can put their orders in and for an exhorbitant figure, we will produce first grade ready talent that hasnt been spoiled by actually playing for our top level team?
Cutom trained and to specifications.
"You want a fullback who is always on the ball, loves competing, is fast and not overawed? Great we have one starting Ball next year. He'll be ready for the commencement of season 2028".

As I wrote previously, the much vaunted Bulldog's development system is working well at the WTs.

It was as soon as Sheens was sacked that he started asking to be released.
Yes he admits to that on the podcast. I think Kempy was referring to some of the stuff that happened in 24.
Anyway Galvin answers it was after they lost 11 straight which is directly related to the time the team lost 10 straight in 2023, made the announcement about Sheens and then won against the Dolphins a couple of days later.

Just did a background search on Luke Vella because I've never really heard of him...

He was a Bulldogs junior that got a shoulder injury and then took over as Jersey Fleg coach in 2020, held this position until 2023, the year the team won the comp.

And in 2024 he was promoted to NRL assistant coach, transitional coach.

Not a teacher at Westfield's Sports High, but a coach...

Looks a bit like Galvin.
Probably has been a good mentor for him and others as he's seen how hard it is and how it can all go away, just as quickly.

Sounds a lot like the "player whisperer" thing as the reason Tedesco, Moses, and Woods left for.

Sigh, this is the feeling that creeps into the back of your mind doesn't it with the size of our catchment just ready for Moses to take delight in cherry picking the best talent.

There would be some pain, but we should at seasons end weed this tick out of our production line of youngsters otherwise it will keep happening, history proves it

The CEO of a strong club using his powerful media position to undermine contracts at the wooden spoon club - no I wouldn't support it no matter who he worked for. Disgraceful.
Interesting... I'd have no mercy, especially after being on the bottom ourselves. I can't imagine any scenario where I'd ever feel sorry for Bulldogs or Eels clubs.

It’s more about Gus having two responsibilities bulldogs and nine and to do one job he lies at the other.
No doubt he's manipulating as much as he can. This is the first time it's came off against WT.

Example 1 - when the Fainu's were being released from Manly, Gus decided to visit Manese in prison and "check on his welfare". We already had Sione so he lost out there.

Example 2 - when Stefano was potentially leaving he was quoted saying WT should be careful how much the offer him - much the same as what said about Galvin. Gus couldn't compete with Bellamy so lost out again.

The point being good guys finish last. I'm tired of seeing my club get manipulated. We need to get better at winning these situations.

This has a lot more to do with Galvin than it does Moses. If it’s was Moses pulling the strings he’d be signing with Parra. He might be a kid but he is firm in his decisions.
-Start of 23 season despite signing on as a Top 30 player 6 months earlier, He refused to integrate into the WT system to play Flegg and later cup instead he requested he focuses on School Boy footy so he can win a premiership there.
-End of that season as he was on a high from schoolboy footy he requests a release from his WT playing contract as the team looks like losers.
(Took a fair bit of negotiation with Richo and Benji to get him back on side).
Then there was the 2024 season and after hitting 8 loses on the trot and a bad hand he requests a release again.
And now we are here in 2025 I think we are all across what happened this year.

Good points but I don't feel comfortable with Moses signing up our juniors he has a proven record of being shady, not to be trusted.

Great post, wd.

My word has it that the "resolution" in 2024 from Richo wasnt exactly the stuff of long lunches and a meeting of equals.

That he kept playing indicates who won that skirmish.

Im kind of sick of all things Galvo and apart from the odd spot of attempted humour, hes persona non grata.

The boys turned their backs on him. Thats a profound statement of disrespect he will never forget.

Its unheard of.

Just a side note , Iam surprised we let Galvin walk now , with latu still injured, would we not have told him he can leave before June 30 but we need u till latu is fit to return , if I was in charge I would have covered that before letting him go , just my though , and I know it’s good just to get rid of the little pedal

Ciraldo had done his time as an assistant building a team up and was looking to cash in on all that effort. He likely so the job here as being too hard as the system was a mismanaged pile of dogshit and noticing another job was on offer...well the choice was easy.
Benji was niaive and maybe ignorant as well. His ego clouded his judgement.
The reult? CC is pushing for a premiership after playing finals last year and Benji is pushing to avoid his third spoon on the trot.

Not saying Benji is same class as Ciraldo, it was the reason I was vocal about him being the best choice for us years ago. The analyst side of him is what drives the success. He also has had a constent with Gus by his side.

Stability & Leadership is a big influence those have been outside of Benji control until the last 12mths or so. Benji never had that until Richo despite people putting the coach hat on.

The squad at the bulldogs has been consistent for the last 18mths with small additions /youth - the right way to do things. Ours hasn’t been and won’t be probably until next season kicks off.

Bulldogs this time last year were on same points as us this year and outside the 8. The year before they had 1 more win than us fighting for the spoon at the same time.

Not saying Benji is an awesome coach, he hasn’t proved his worth yet but the difference in ecosystem is a massive driver of success and culture/teams need time to form. Based on timelines and squad structures we are 18mths behind them on simple mechanics.
