NORTH SYDNEY BEARS Perth-

it is a master-stroke a better decision than png, they will have perth support and old bears support in Sydney
win win
dont think bears will play a home game in Sydney at north Sydney oval.
maybe a trial game against manly
Bears will be abd is a better brand than Perth Reds
The Bendigo Dirty Reds would be better than PNG.

The travelling will be diabolical in a lonnng season. NZ PNG Nth QLD and now WA.
All good when you watch games on TV but for clubs and players/ families it will be an added hard slog. I'm assuming the NRL will be subsidising the added travel/accommodation expenses for clubs..

Wonder if they’ll strategically put byes in place for teams to plan ahead

Can’t imagine they’ll let NZ travel to Perth on a 6 day turn around and vice versa etc

Swans and Brisbane don't play home games in Victoria though. 100 odd games in Sydney every year but Perth need to play a home game there. That's batshit crazy.
The Bears have got they brand back in the NRL for zero dollars. That havnt spent $1 or 1 minute here

Nice to have friends in high places.
Agreed and if the NRL want WA to adopt the side, don't have a failed ex Sydney Team brand.

They will eventually be a strong club , it won't hold them back.
I just can't work out how they get their branding back for zero investment. It doesn't sit well with me as it cost WA taxpayers $65 mill and he knocked back $30mill from WA investors.

1 game at NSO is a slap ,guessing home games in Perth will be scheduled on a certain day at the same time and away games will basically be on a strict format as well - time will tell

Mal Meninga is in deep negotiations with the ARLC, which owns the Perth Bears licence.
The parties are thrashing out terms of remuneration and only an eleventh-hour collapse in talks will prevent Meninga leading the Bears.

It’s a big call by Mal. Giving up a cushy Kangaroos job to go to the otherside of the country and start a new franchise. He’ll be 67 in their first season.
Good luck to him.
