LIVE GAME Round 17v Manly

Yeah I think it’s a bit rich that he judges us within the call. Warren Smith does it too. I don’t notice other teams coping a hammering from the Commentators as well as the opposition as much as us.
There no teams as bad as ours on an ongoing basis as WT. 3 spoons.

Was that in a press conference?
Yeah, when he coached the Panthers. He’d been under the pump for weeks, and after another loss, walked in and pulled his tie over his head, and said something to the affect of “How’s that?”. Wasn’t much of a coach but had a sense of humour.

I heard one of the first things Gus did when he arrived at Penrith was sit down Matt Elliot and ask him to explain how he plans to coach the side to play that season. It was apparently so convoluted that he pretty much sacked him on the spot.

I thought he was already gone once Gus got there. I know the only reason Gus went there in the first place is cos they failed to lure Sheens from us.

I thought Sheens was sought after from when Gus was in the position and after the rejection turned to Ivan at the Wahs. Didn’t realise it was before Gus.

The word was that Matt Elliot was a great guy but as a coach, just struggled to get his message across to the players. So Gus did some investigating and what was suspected was confirmed by his meeting.

Nah, Gus definitely came after. I know that because I remember reading that one of the Panther officials, maybe the CEO at the time, had told Gus the club had no idea what to do cos they thought they had Sheens over the line. If you remember that far back, Sheens was all but gone, and only stayed after one last ditch attempt from us. I think Gus joined them to do them a favour. He then poached Cleary from the Warriors mid contract (Notice a pattern?) and the rest is history.

Fair enough. But the coaching contracting system was different back then. Cleary was set to start at Penrith in 2013 but Warriors weren’t having a bar of it and released him a year early.

Are you seriously suggesting that Benji be given more time. He has no coaching clue. Time to cut umblical cord. 2 spoons and possibly 3 in his time here is not acceptable, irrespective of being a Tiger legend.
When did I say that ? Go back and read actual English . I said he’s trying to blood the kids and giving them trust and confidence . But if the results don’t happen soon , he’s not long for the job . That’s what I said … it’s clear as day . Go cut your wrists somewhere else .

The guys who participated in talks of merging clubs and wrist cutting last night should hang their head in shame . And to label the players soft … LOL some pots calling kettles black right there ..
You have been very passionate lately and I like it.
I agree that we centred our team around Galvin and him departing has made us have to virtually start all over again.
I agree that our young players all have obvious talent, but also all have deficiencies in their game that they still need to work on and that should be mainly happening in NSW Cup bar a major injury crisis when we have no choice other than to use them
This all being said & done we straight away looked 100 times sharper when Doueihi stated playing in the halves, surely this would have been noticeable in opposed training sessions, rather than let it fail on game day ?
And do you agree or disagree that we have an unbalanced lineup and are too slow across the park, no danger from long range and it allows opposing defences to compress and make it very hard to get out of our own danger zone because if it ?
The Bulldogs are regularly shifting the ball wide early to prevent this from happening to them, but they have the speed and quality out wide to make it work.
