I posted this in the Chammas Article thread the other day in response to BZN.
HBG is a not for profit. From the constitution:
The income and property of the Club howsoever derived shall be applied solely towards the promotion of the objectives of the Club as set forth in this Constitution and no portion thereof shall be paid or transferred directly or indirectly by way of dividend, bonus or otherwise by way of profit to the members of the Club.
The objectives are many but in short:
- To provide for members and members' guests a social and sporting Club with all the usual facilities of a Club including: residential and other accommodation, liquid and other refreshment libraries and provision for sporting, musical and educational activities and other social amenities.
- To assist generally in the promotion conduct and propagation of Rugby League football in the Rugby League Football District of the Western Suburbs of Sydney, or elsewhere, and to provide or assist in the provision of training and conditioning and teaching facilities for football played in accordance with the rules of the New South Wales Rugby Football League.
In my book they are investing much more into the first objective than the second - if I have it right (aand I may be incorrect) they are trying to make Wests Tigers profitable - that is not an objective in the constitution.
