mason’s confidence just looks absolutely shot. it’s sad
He was a very confident player last season and early this season, so I’m assuming the instructions he’s getting is not allowing him to play his natural game.
He is shovelling the ball to his outside player without sucking in any defenders which is not his strength, his running game is his strength.

Watched the replays of both lower grades last night when the family was finally asleep after a day at the races.

Geez we know how to self-sabotage in NSW Cup don't we!

A game we should have won (again) to keep us in the top 5 race but now I'd say the rest of the season will be just about development & contracts.

I'll start with my positives ...

Thought Elie El Zakhem, Brent Naden & our middles were our best without being outstanding. Naden just looks class & a leader at this level. El Zakhem must be in contention for NSW Cup team of the year atm and probably could be likened to a slight-downgrade of Billy Burns in terms of performance & ability. Another pleasing performance by Peter Taa'teo with the impact & intensity he brings off the bench.

Now my unload ... f*** me Aaron Payne, Joe Lovodua & Kurt Falls, whoever is responsible for the constant going to our right side in attack, you need to be hauled over the coals ... cost us the game.

1 Lovodua, not sure whether he can't pass very well right to left or is under instruction to give the ball to Falls, he has to go!
2 Falls, fair dinkum you're the captain and have been directing the team around the park really well but demanding the ball when we have a left side of Naden, Saukuru, Makasini & Tui'tupou, what are you thinking???
3 Payne, get the runner out there to tell Lovodua & Falls to shift left 75% of the time, you're the f**** coach.

We have arguably the best attacking player on the field in Naden on the left, plus the tackle-breaking giants in Saukuru, Big Mak & Tui, who I'm sure Benji wants to receive ball in various clutch scenarious for their development.

DUMB, DUMB, DUMB! Another example of lack of footy IQ!

And speaking of dumb, stop playing Heath Mason at fullback NOW please! Cost us 2 tries and we have Bula, Turuva, Luke L, Naden, Mapapalangi, Staines, Deininger, Tavana, even Lobb with better fullback ability. That's 9 players.

Solution, there will be teething issues but why don't we play Mason at hooker in Cup now to develop his utility ability. He can either rotate with Murray or Bailey Hodges. The club needs to start developing Mason where his future is likely to be (utility - hooker/halves & eventually can be thrown in at lock).

the lack of going left was driving me crazy, as if someone isn’t on the sideline screaming it. also good mention of naden, definitely noticed his leadership in this grade always hyping the younger kids up or supporting them even when they make a mistake.

mason is an issue they need to fix, lacks confidence now & is going into his shell

Exactly, bloody frustrating @tigahhh .

Yeah was great see Naden really get around Big Mak with encouragement a few times.

Playing like a 5/8 without taking on the line on.
Shovel it on, terrible game, no effort to get into the game.
Probably be fullback next week?
