Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Based on our current playing roster, the team lists below could be somewhat close to what we will have for round 1 next season.
This shows we will likely add one more middle forward, whether that player will be a starter or a bench player remains to be seen.
The rumour is we are trying to offload Jack Bird, whether we can potentially replace him with a new recruit or fill his position internally remains to be seen. I believe we need a quality uograde on Bird as a recruit, whether that player wears the 15 jersey or potentially starts at 13.
Quite a few of our supporters including myself would ideally like one more proven NRL quality outside back to be recruited. It’s unlikely to happen based on salary cap restraints.
The talent within our Development Contract list looks quite promising, albeit most of them very young and possibly 12-18 months away from being genuine NRL contenders..

Basically the same team that couldn’t get it done this year with minimal injuries

Yep agree , we need to buy 2 more first grade players and with KPP. It will make a difference , and as some one said our reserve grade team should play the player in their proper position so that player can replace an injured nrl player spot for spot , if a centre is injured replace with a centre from Reseve grade , we did to much shifting around of players

Done the maths, we definitely have over a million in space with two roster spots left.

We don't have many big contracts and only one over 750k.
How does your player estimates compare to this CC?

I have taken out Sullivan & have 3 spots left with only about $250k left in salary cap and that's factoring in about $150k or the $300 max rebate for developed players.

Yes I've probably been generous with a few but just been going off media reports on their likely contract.

Luai 1,200,000
Koroisau 700,000

I share your concern, however if we sign a good quality middle as our starting prop or 17 and replace Jack Bird with someone of quality such as Talakai or Stone, I think we become a lot stronger.
As I keep saying I would ideally also like one more quality outside back, but that’s probably unlikely to happen.

A couple of adjustments here:

1. Sam Fainu is about 350k. / -150k
2. Seyfarth 250k / -200k
3. Makasini 300k / -150k
4. Bird 250k / -150k
6. Madden +100k > 350k but unsure if Broncos tipping in
7. Geyer is probably on 150k but who knows. /-50k

I think there's around 600k there remaining with adjusted salaries.

Remember, we were also paying Bateman a lot of money to play elsewhere. Not sure what the story is with that.

I think the reason we are hearing whispers around Bird and Hunt is they take up 750-800k and don't match that in output. Even just getting some better quality for these 2 gives us a better squad to pock from moving forward considering they played most of the back half of the season in reserves.

Assume there is between 500 and 700k remaing with 2 spots to fill and Bud goes officially, then it's around 1 million give or take.

makasini & sam are on big deals

Just drove past Kogarah oval this morning it really shits all over CSS & LO facilities wise
It's a nice ground in a nice location but clearly second to the far better and beautifully positioned WIN stadium. As fatty said, it's right next to the Wollongong Ocean. The new high performance centre for the Dragons is just north at Fairy Meadow.

This comes from Hooper at the time.

“I have heard it averages at $500,000 per season over four years, so it is essentially $2 million each and a $4 million package deal,” Hooper said.

Meaning..1. He doesn't know for sure. 2. The deal probably ratchets up to higher numbers over the 4 years, meaning these early years are not 500k.

Makasini signed a 3 year deal for 1 million. That's where my numbers come from.
