OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

His influence has taken us from cellar dwellers to top 4. Show some respect.
Not disrespecting him at all, just saying he didn't create a brand here it was done in his time at Penrith. No doubt he’s had an impact so far here and it adds to his legacy but I don’t believe his most recent work was the building of him.

Have a look at JLs story he’s just posted on Instagram, the PNG publicity drive has already begun. I wouldn’t want him in my sheds or near my players if I followed any other club

Is there a limit on how many non-PNG players the club can sign?

It is obviously extremely unfair that they operate on a cap which is 45% higher than the rest, regardless of where they are situated.

I think the remedy to the attraction issue could have simply been to be allowed 1-2 mil extra in their cap which would have seen them perhaps attract 2 or 3 marquee players.

Their roster is going to be stacked with marquee players if there is no restrictions.

They have the same Cap as the rest of the teams...You could say the tax free part is the premium that players will take to relocate and go over there to live in a bubble. Luai's incentive is huge because he is already a top earner in the NRL...the rest will not be as dramatic. A player on $500k might get an extra $200k...would that be worth relocating the family and taking that risk?

I think we/Benji have to go all in on the Fainu's now, if it hasn't happened already Latu needs to be sat down and told Jeromes spot is over to you and yours to lose.
Similarly get a Fat upgrade under Sam's nose that kid is our Olakau’atu could even be better. Sione is no slouch either. But make it known to them this club is here and they can preside over a family dynasty here.
Also Andrews and Jock need to be spoken to getting them into the frame, we need to set ourselves up post Luai the carrot needs to be dangled they all should now see a path infront of them.
I don't have a lot of faith that the May's stick around, they look the most like to walk perhaps not to PNG but TDM already indicated R360 could be an option and Taylans refusal of an extra year didnt exactly fill me with confidence.

With the death of Liv golf, the R360 crap will never get off the ground.

I think they will stay …-Sione has re upped and Manase will be out of the big house soon ..: they won’t be cheap though … might have a bit of leverage if some of the others walk

My friends dad works there for the government and must have armed bodyguards at all times because it is so dangerous, I think the nrl is playing a risky game over there especially if the games are played in Port Moresby
Just think if they lose more games than they win , the natives will get mighty angry

has any one heard , how long this tax free situation will be for , one year or for ever , it’s really not right on the other teams

It’s rubbish. And like I said, we are only the first club to feel it, There’s going to be more.

The Fainus were here before Luai, are Tongan and Maori (not Samoan like Luai) and are extemely close to Benji.

I don't think we need to worry about them at all, especially with Sione locked down long-term.

Turuva came here because his cousin was our captain more than because Luai came here.

The Mays are probably the greatest flight risk, but they're also tight with Benji and extremely thankful for the opportunity he gave them. Plus they're two personalities who will not suit the PNG lifestyle at all.

The risk of player flight, especially if we keep up our good form this year, is extremely low.
