Even Penrith don't rely solely on "local" juniors. They have an extremely well funded scouting/development team. They pluck guys from the Country, NZ, QLD when they recognise gaps in their juniors. Our big problem is we believe in local juniors.
How arrogant do you have to be to think you can build an elite NRL team out of local kids?
Yes Penrith did it, but they already had successful systems and processes in place. Theyve played in 8 GFs in the past 35 years. 20 finals series in their 40 year history. Our club can not compete with this and attempting to emulate them is never going to work.
Agree, but isn't it interesting Roosters, Melbourne and Broncos always seem to have less cap stress than the premiership Panthers?Panthers as continual.premiers also faced cap stress other clubs dont which probably helped us in that regard

Pre season when everyone is cruising on false hope would have been the optimal time. Not sure coming on here when the fans are close to rock bottom was a wise decision.
We have survived off false promises of better days ahead for too long and while he is innocent of being responsible for our position he represents the mob who are.
I dunno mate really very little to think things will be improved next year and it seems not much left in cap to sign or strengthen the squad. Just like this season a couple of injuries away from being exposed. And having to play the two top teams at seasons end - not ideal heading into next season.Pre season when everyone is cruising on false hope would have been the optimal time.
Our spine alone as it stands has us in the bottom 4. And if we manage to sign anyone, it will only be someone who’s looking for a regular first grade gig. Sean O’Sullivan, Brad Schneider etc.I dunno mate really very little to think things will be improved next year and it seems not much left in cap to sign or strengthen the squad. I don't rate the squad as being anything close to top 8 - and very likely there will be another mid season disruption.
Apologise for the doom and gloom but backs against the wall from where I stand.
Unlike some don't blame the players just feel they haven't got the troops to compete over a season especially when impacted by injuries.
You don't want to go into next season with any hope at all, you'd prefer to go from season to season with a dark feeling of despair, why bother with it.Pre season when everyone is cruising on false hope would have been the optimal time.
It’s not my fault we suckYou don't want to go into next season with any hope at all, you'd prefer to go from season to season with a dark feeling of despair.
Maybe all you're doom and gloom is conjuring up an evil spirit possessing the team. It’s not my fault we suck
Yes so true! Penrith are always having to shed players each year to make sure their cap is sustainable yet the Roosters in particular seem to go on their merry way without any cap issues.Agree, but isn't it interesting Roosters, Melbourne and Broncos always seem to have less cap stress than the premiership Panthers?
Not really understanding why GNR is being singled out for being negative about our team/club’s hope for the future, the whole forum (including myself) has been constantly negative! Have you read any other people’s comments lately? LolMaybe all you're doom and gloom is conjuring up an evil spirit possessing the team.
Maybe it's time for you to bring in a witch doctor to cast out your negativity.
The witch doctor has a group sale happening at the moment mate for anyone who needs it, just having a bit of banter with G, he knows that it's been going on for a while now.Not really understanding why GNR is being singled out for being negative about our team/club’s hope for the future, the whole forum (including myself) has been constantly negative! Yeah, Former Bulldogs fullback, he was assaulted in the car park outside South Tweed Leagues Club.Is that the guy Blocker was sacked for bullying at 2GB?
To be honest, we shouldn’t see him again until next year after Chrissie.Shaun hasn’t been in here this week?
