Panthers as continual.premiers also faced cap stress other clubs dont which probably helped us in that regard

Even Penrith don't rely solely on "local" juniors. They have an extremely well funded scouting/development team. They pluck guys from the Country, NZ, QLD when they recognise gaps in their juniors.

Agree, but isn't it interesting Roosters, Melbourne and Broncos always seem to have less cap stress than the premiership Panthers?

Pre season when everyone is cruising on false hope would have been the optimal time.
I dunno mate really very little to think things will be improved next year and it seems not much left in cap to sign or strengthen the squad. Just like this season a couple of injuries away from being exposed. And having to play the two top teams at seasons end - not ideal heading into next season.
I don't rate the squad as being anything close to top 8 - and very likely there will be another mid season disruption.
Apologise for the doom and gloom but backs against the wall from where I stand.
Unlike some don't blame the players just feel they haven't got the troops to compete over a season especially when impacted by injuries.

Our spine alone as it stands has us in the bottom 4. And if we manage to sign anyone, it will only be someone who’s looking for a regular first grade gig. Sean O’Sullivan, Brad Schneider etc.

You don't want to go into next season with any hope at all, you'd prefer to go from season to season with a dark feeling of despair, why bother with it.

Yes so true! Penrith are always having to shed players each year to make sure their cap is sustainable yet the Roosters in particular seem to go on their merry way without any cap issues.
They already have a star studded team made up of NSW & QLD origin players and now they’re favourites to sign Farnworth if he doesn’t re-sign with the Dolphins! Like fmd how many more elite players are they allowed to have! They can’t all be playing on low salaries and for the love of the club only.
Not really understanding why GNR is being singled out for being negative about our team/club’s hope for the future, the whole forum (including myself) has been constantly negative! Have you read any other people’s comments lately? Lol
