The point is Bula himself can activate his own contract extension at 800k which is extremely good money for a player of his ability.
It would appear Wests Tigers are baulking at activating his extension at 900k and could you blame us if this is correct ?
Some say what is an extra 100k, but like everything there has to be limit and I’m of the belief that when any player is being paid above 800k they become in the elite marquee player category.
Some say Bula either already is elite or fast approaching elite player status, others disagree and have not seen it and don’t anticipate on seeing it anytime soon.
Obviously a lot of this is guessing and joining the dots together based on the recent media report from Michael Chammas, but logically there must be some hesitation from both parties otherwise the deal would have already been done.
You’re guessing and assuming.
He could activate, he could have offers of more, he could be working with the club or he couldn’t give a crap right now etc.
The fact you keep harping on about it all the time is rubbish.
He changed managers, activating the clause isn’t in his management’s best interests.
Bula has said a fair few times he wants to stay and have a longer deal. He is married he isn’t going to focus year to year & doesn’t need to unless their is significant benefit to him.
Extending for 1yr means little.
He will get 7-800k on the market, someone will pay that be it direct or mixed with cap/3rd party agreements. So activating the clause adds no value to him.
You make it out that it’s all Bula but if anything it sounds like it’s more the club driving the outcome, which given we haven’t activated the clause isn’t a bad thing.
