OFFICIAL Adam Doueihi #227

He's not a half.

Not a fullback.

Not a centre.

But he's a game changing runner of the ball, with a decent kicking game.

Could be a lock, but have my doubts defensively and work rate wise in general.

Ideal 14 but we need him in the 13 somewhere IMO. Just really hard to figure out where that is.

There is every chance we would have scored more points as the ball would be distributed instead of tucked under a wing as well. It is all about perspective.

The problem for us isn't AD as an individual, he has plenty of strenghts, but AD as a half. The first few games he was good, and several here had him way up on a pedestal, without looking at the second and third order effects of having a player like him in the 7. It did not take long for the rest of the NRL to figure out how to limit him in attack, and by doing so shut down an entire edge. His passing game is bog average, and the Sukkar pass was an anomaly if you look at his historical efforts.

To combat this AD has, and this is opinion, tried to overcome it by doing more himself - futrther limiting our overall attack. And on top of this he has introduced these very poor chip kicks for himself that turn the ball over to the opposition in brilliant field position.

He has a place in the team, but 7 is not it, and given his defence has reverted back to the norm - he is either too injured to be playing FG or his confidence is so far shot he should be regaining it in cup.

Does any other 7 in the competition shut down an edge in attack so much? Does any other 7 in the game kick for themselves more than once in a game? Does any other 7 dominate the halves pairing so much? I could go on.

Good guy, low footy IQ.

I agree he is one of the best 13 players in this team…. And should be playing in the starting team … I got no idea where though …

We were good in attack early in the year as we were offering threats across the park. When our second rowers (then May) went down we became one dimensional. Stop our halves running and it’s an easy day.

We were winning games and playing much better … games like the Souths and Broncos losses - the attack was very clunky though even back then..so it wasn’t perfect by any means

I agree though things are dire with our current makeshift second row and centres … we have very little there amongst the key attacking players

Yeah, I don’t think we landed on any real identity in attack. We just had classy players doing things to get the better of the opposition. The second rowers and Api going down really killed us.

This douehi talk is interesting. Last week he scored from nothing and no one came over to celebrate…was Thinking the team isn’t playing for wachnn no other bit perhaps it’s him.

For our WT sake, it is sad that even 2026 Adam has again been unable to prove the relative few on here that have consistently stated, that as a half, overall, he detracts more from our team than he brings to it, as wrong.

He returned in last year's trial games as a dramatically improved player, both defensively and effort plays wise, but not so much of late, so I'm hoping that his seemingly apathetic effort on Friday was because of injury rather than laziness or something worse.

In the month before AD returned we scored 22, 36 & 22.
So do you think he is the reason some of his teammates pass the ball slowly, run the ball half hearted, tackle without aggression and struggle to break a tackle let alone a line break?
He has far and away the most player of the match awards for our team over the past 12 months, were they all flukes?
I don’t believe what I am reading, Doueihi is our problem, yet Bula on twice the wage and Luai on 3 times his wage are doing great?

There’s plenty of other players not playing well, but your 7 is charged with creating for others, and AD simply isn’t doing that since returning.

I was also calling for Jock at 7 when we were winning.

Luai come to our club with the intention of playing 7 and we quickly learnt he was not a 7’s backside.
Doueihi is clearly a 6, not a 7, but with Luai quite often not prepared to take any responsibility on the 5th tackle, there was little option other than to play Doueihi at 7.
Although I’m not totally convinced Latu is a 7 as opposed to a 6 himself, a fit and healthy halves combination of Latu at 7 and Doueihi at 6 far better than a halves combination including Luai.
As you have mentioned, Jock has shown us he can do a job at 7 when the rest of the team are doing their job, so he is still a very good back up 7 and Javon a very good emerging 6.
We still need to find an attack minded 13 who can come on at around the 20 minute mark and be a slick 1st receiver, but also be a run threat and tackle well enough to not be a liability in the middle.
Players that fit this description are few and far between so it looks like our best chance of finding this type of player for 2027 or 2028 is to manufacture someone who can play this way.
As others have mentioned, Jamie Humphreys has these attributes if he is keen to make it work and if not him there are others such as Brad Schneider or Jack Cole who also have the attributes to play this type of role well if they were willing to put their body on the line e and get the job done in the middle defensively.
Ray Stone is another option and we know he is an animal in defence, but does he have the ability to play as a ball distributing 1st receiver as he has never really shown it throughout his career.

I said on here very early after he signed that Luai would end up in the 6. Give Latu a few weeks with a premiership winning 6, to aid his development. AD to centre.
