Crowd looked amazing at Parramatta last night for WSW vs SYD ..
I think WSW could be one of the most profitable sporting clubs in Australia in a few years..

sure was pacey. had the good fortune to be at leichardt on fri night then wanderers last night. gotta say that without doubt the wanderers fans are second to none here in sydney no matter which sport. there were a number of streets closed leading to the stadium before and after the game due to the large number of supporters from both sides. the rbb ritual of parading, singing and chanting down church street to the stadium is fantastic. the finals should be awesome.
as footnote the wanderers jerseys to buy are like hens teeth. virtually all their supporters wear the wanderers jerseys to the games

Sounds great. Im praying for an all sydney final or a sydney team vs Melbourne Victory..
Wonder how many years away the aleague is from Selling out ANZ for a final..

The Wanderers could quite possibly have the best supporter base in Australia out of any sporting club. I think they will be the power club of the A-League, as they have a huge fan base, and when you look at the big stars for the socceroos, the majority of them come from Western Sydney, so the area has a track record of producing quality juniors.

The crowd was big and the atmosphere was good but it could have been so much better. So many new fans and non-active fans were standing where the usual active fans stand. We call them flogs. Many RBB members couldn't stand where they usually did and it was actually more quiet then usual apart from the 'Who do we sing for' chant.

Lucky to get a point last night

Why Tommy Oar isn't starting with Kruse on the right astounds me

Japan away now , then Iraq and Jordan at home

Jordan beat Japan too which complicates things.

Basically have to draw with Japan and beat Iraq/Jordan at home.

I'll say one thing though, I understand how hard it is for our boys to be torn away from all corners of the globe to come back for national duty. All are class players individually, but they struggle for cohesion as evidenced last night when they only looked to get into the game after the 50th minute. How many other national sides are in the same boat as us? Look at our starting eleven last night:

Schwarzer: England (PL)
Cahill: USA
Wilkshire: Russia
Kruse: Germany
Holman: England (PL)
Jedinak: England (Championship)
Holland: Austria
McKay: Scotland
Cornthwaite: Korea
Brosque: Japan
Thwaite: Australia

Only one player in that starting eleven plays in the national league, and only two players play in the same overseas league. Spain/Italy/UK/Germany don't have those problems. Not even the bigger Asian teams like South Korea or Japan have that issue. They may have one or two big name players overseas but the bulk of their squads are at home playing with or against each other, and allows for better cohesion when the national squad comes together.

If the A-League continues to grow over the next 5-10 years, the FFA needs to help the clubs retain promising youth that will go on to national duty. Continuing to improve the quality of the league in Australia and attracting overseas names is already helping.

Osieck is the FFA's version of Sheens

Talks all week about playing an attacking style of football and how he has to win and then picks a mid field that is defensive

isn't it strange when we did have Bresciano and Oar on the park we looked a far different side

Oar and Kruse can beat a man with speed and skill

CB get this feeling that Japan may have foxing , they'd rather play Jordan in the final 32 than us imo seeing they are well clear of the scrap going on with the other 4 sides

I thought Bresciano hurt us when he came on, Oar looked great though.

I thought Kruse was looking good for a goal, don't know why he was hooked (especially for Thompson, he was poor.)

Terrible results for us, not only the draw but Jordan over Japan. If we get a point in Japan we should be a-ok as 6 points against Jordan and Iraq at home will see us through. Ironically if we do run 3rd and have to go through the playoffs, the CONMEBOL team currently in that slot in their qualification is Uruguay (although there is plenty of time for that to change). I still think we are in the best spot to go through, if we pick up wins against Jordan and Iraq, along with a draw against Japan we can't miss out, if we lose to Japan but take the other 6 points, Oman need to make up a 3 goal differential on us, whilst beating Jordan and Iraq themselves. Barring a complete disaster in Japan I think we are in the box seat to go through.

It was pretty dismal for much of last night. Apart from corners and the odd long range shot we really struggled to create decent chances. There seemed to be a lack of penetrating runs and off the ball movement plus some fairly awful basic skills in passing and ball control. Watching some of them, it was hard to believe they made a very decent living playing soccer… Bresciano was particularly poor.

That was poor last night. The boys struggled for cohesion and if it wasn't for Cahill's absolute domination in the air, it would have been really concerning.

A few of the guys who haven't had much game time struggled. Holman was very unfit and Bresciano having to be replaced hurt as Rogic I think would have come on for sure.

Jordan beating Japan is a real pain but hopefully the boys can still qualify. Come a World Cup and some time to create cohesion and chemistry, they would put on a much better display.

Kruse was probably our second best along with Cahill while he was on the field. If he was dragged that's a ridiculous decision.

How much of a champion is Tim Cahill? Without him we would have been royally stuffed. Not just the goal but he seemed to be the catalyst for us waking up and realising we might actually have to play a bit.

We've played one less game and we play Jordan at home. Realistically we could lose to Japan and win our final 2 games and be sweet. Then again you would have thought last night was 3 points in the bag…
