2023 Expectations

Last I heard in a report was he broke his scaphoid, a small bone in the wrist.
I broke my scaphoid when I was in the Army and it took near 8wks to fully recover.
The problem with this particular bone injury is there is little blood supply to it which slows the healing process.
Bad breaks often require pinning.
Stefano will be fine and back for preseason training I would imagine.
"Welcome back" 👍

So based on POM and everything going right in those negotiations- potential team is….

Still not going to win a comp with that..
We could get to 16th

I think Maguire just wasnt able to develop players. Their skill sets didnt develop. That is a basic requirement isnt it? Was sick of hearing they trained well but didnt do it on the day.
An

And you can go through just about our whole list and they were deemed not good enough elsewhere. But it’s the coach right 😂
Some still don't get it. Put a whole lot of underachieving players together you get results that reflect that. You put a couple of those players in a team of winners they either lift to the standard of that squad, or they get dropped for someone who will. Pick whichever coach you like or don't at this club our failure has always stemmed from the lack of quality with the make up in the roster.
The very same reason that retention of any decent player is becoming as much a challenge as recruitment.

I am preying we can end the injury curse. Our top squad needs to be at full strength to have a hope of jagging somewhere near 8th. Api imo is such an elite dummy half our forwards maybe able to play on the front foot. Papi will be such a good leader in actions that i have no doubt our younger lads will be pumped to play with him. I have seen enough of Laurie in junior reps and nsw cup to know he is better than Staines, Daine just needs to be more about being a professional off field to flourish on it.

I don't agree with this though. I don't think it was the right decision but he is a professional coach and he had 4 years to improve us and we didn't improve. I also don't think Madge going has anything at all with the noise around IP. There is no reason for IP not to come here other than Parra are trying to retain him because they stuffed the initial contract discussions.

I think the issue with sacking Madge is that it wasn't about solely Madge's performance. It was about making someone the scapegoat.
Losing Madge was probably bad for us this year but I recall they said they were looking ahead and asked themselves do we see Madge in our future and the answer was no. So the decision was made to set up for next year and subsequent years effectively sacrificing our season. Tough call and it has been a catastrophe but I think it was the right call. If we sacked Madge at the end of the season, we’d be looking for a new coach in the off season rather than hitting the ground running in November.

The silence from the front office is deafening. Apart from the moments we heard from our Chair and CEO on the Cowboys loss (which was noble) and the outrage over funding for ground upgrades (which was embarrassing), and making announcements about potential coaching candidates (which was premature) I think there is a shortage of leadership in communication with fans. I expected some kind of statement after the catastrophic loss last week but nothing. I then I thought perhaps we’ll hear something at the end of the year when our season concludes depending how results land. Stay tuned. My expectation for 2023 (aside from the obvious performance expectations) is that we should hear more from leadership with proper regular messaging and less cliche and fluff words. Just be honest and give fans hope that we have a strategy and it is being executed.

Get ready for a bumpy ride, because next year we will be told we're setting up for 24.

I disagree with this comment. The problem is the fans are all over the place. Stop the leaks but we want more information. They should shut their mouths but they should speak up.

It's a case of you can't win. When you are in this situation it's basically impossible to win.

A good example was one poster on here had a go at Lee for opening his mouth over a comment in the media that Lee spoke to Sheens about that loss. Just to be clear Lee didn't say anything. It was just reported he spoke to Sheens about the loss. It's crazy.
