2024 State of Origin Teams

I don't know why but QLD for ever since I can recall have this insecurity where they have to be better than anyone else in the country.
I think it may have started with origin... But we see it in all facets of life now... Natural disasters, politics, geography sport etc.
For them to use Aussie Olympians... Calling them Maroons when they're green & golds, clutching for anything counting how many we have per state is yet another insecure exhibition from our northern friends
I find it very immature and highly amusing... Very much like a younger sibling always in competition with his older faster stronger smarter bro... He and
queenslander can't handle it when they're brought down a peg.
I Iove our northern neighbours... Don't ever change 😊
Just as Sydney isn’t NSW, Brisbane isn’t QLD.
The opinions of both papers are childish.

I don’t think he’s ready.
NSW clearly targeted him, as was expected, and he didn’t perform.
When that kid plays free flowing footy, he is a machine. Lately the pressure on him for Broncs and the Maroons has seen his game shrink into itself.
He is not in the top echelon of players. Not yet.
Hopefully a better team for us next year with the return of Munster, Flegler and Tino.

Moses > Cleary

Madge can coach. The issue is he can only coach one style which is a big physical team to play quite a simple game plan of bash and barge with high effort areas. He works at rep level because he can select players who fit that style of play. The Wests Tigers squad was the complete opposite of being able to play that way and it was like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole for 3.5 years. He had to go. We couldn’t wait for 6 years whilst he reshaped the roster to fit his style. He needed to get the best out of the players he had at the time. The problem was the coaches that followed Madge got worse and worse.
If only Madge was more flexible and embraced the concept of smaller less physical forwards? I think I get it? We can see how Stefano has been trying to fit in by becoming more gentle and working more on finesse. He loves breaking tackles though, he’s gonna have to go.

Dearden was good tonite... Dunno what happened with Hunt he ways worries me in maroon... He's like Gagai was..icts big time for his state
Dearden was excellent. He is a good footy player. I said after game 2 I didn’t want him dropped. He is a keeper.
Hunt didn’t get the game time we needed from him. I don’t want to harp on too much but Grant isn’t the superior origin player for mine and should always play second fiddle.

The game was a bash-a-ton, a test of physical stamina and endurance rather than free flowing, end to end. Some people (in particular Channel 9 team) revelled at this, almost wishing the inevitable punch up which makes great viewing. Others may say "This is Origin" - but for me, it almost bordered on a survival of the fittest. I do wonder about the long term effects on the players if this is where the game is heading. Could feel every hit from the loungeroom in Sydney.

I loved it. It was a proper test of the players skill, determination, toughness, courage and committment. It was rep level footy.
NSW had the better squad, it felt inevitable they would win, but my god, didn’t QLD put a fight up. They dug in and gave it everything. Great contest.
A series with both sides at full strength would be remarkable.

I loved it and not just the end result.
Just totally engrossed in it... I was with about half a dozen.othera at a mates place.... Lol one bloke. A. Saints fan.went.home.at half time 🤣
Personally haven't had a lot to cheer about footy wise for quite few seasons
We were all. Going off and totally pumped it was a great night. And. To.watch.with a few others even better.
I literally jumped out of my chair when Moses scored.
This is what footys about us Tigers fans have been starved of such enjoyment for so so long.
That was easily one.of the best games I've watched in over 50 years watching the game... In the top 5 for sure
Dispels the myth too that you need lots of points for the game to be good, I'll never understand this thinking.

Gotta give it to Madge. When he has the players he wants he can certainly mould them in to a tough, uncompromising unit. NSW has always lacked the hard edge and sheer will to win that is a trademark of Qld. Madge has turned that around. This would have to be one of the toughest blues side I have seen.

Yeah happy for you man, these experiences are why we follow the game.

Among so many great performances on both sides last night, I also loved Barnett when he came on for the Blues, and Collins again stepped up for the Maroons, like he does @Origin time.
Tough players both.

Anyone else feel like the first half ran long ?

The NBN/9 broadcast had a suss clock, said H1 then 32 minutes, then 9 minutes.... the whole first half seemed to play out longer than usual.

My mate at the game said there was no clock at the field either until 20 minutes in.

Seems odd.
