2024 State of Origin Teams

The game was a bash-a-ton, a test of physical stamina and endurance rather than free flowing, end to end. Some people (in particular Channel 9 team) revelled at this, almost wishing the inevitable punch up which makes great viewing. Others may say "This is Origin" - but for me, it almost bordered on a survival of the fittest. I do wonder about the long term effects on the players if this is where the game is heading. Could feel every hit from the loungeroom in Sydney.
Free flowing end to end = weaker defence doesn’t it?

9 players charged with contrary conduct from last night?
Fair enough, the guys who weren’t on the field should get penalties. Murray, Olakau’atu and Burton. The other 6 should form an alliance and contest their charges.
For 6 weeks, the NRL has been happy to stir the pot and receive all the praise for Origin. Big crowds, good ratings, plenty of merch sold…all due to the frenzy of emotion whipped up as hate between the sides. Then when the players perform as requested, providing one of the most intense games in Origin history they come in afterwards and steal money from them for doing EXACTLY AS THE NRL WANTED THEM TO DO.
Contrary conduct? Go and get stuffed.

I don't know why but QLD for ever since I can recall have this insecurity where they have to be better than anyone else in the country.
I think it may have started with origin... But we see it in all facets of life now... Natural disasters, politics, geography sport etc.
For them to use Aussie Olympians... Calling them Maroons when they're green & golds, clutching for anything counting how many we have per state is yet another insecure exhibition from our northern friends
I find it very immature and highly amusing... Very much like a younger sibling always in competition with his older faster stronger smarter bro... He and
queenslander can't handle it when they're brought down a peg.
I Iove our northern neighbours... Don't ever change 😊

Isnt that the Tasmanian Ariarne Titmus on their front page ? 😂

This makes me happy for Maguire, I have always liked him as a coach

"Whatever it gets called, Michael Maguire has ended yet another drought. Wigan (who hadn’t won the Super League in 12 years). South Sydney (where he helped end a 43-year premiership drought). New Zealand (whose Pacific Cup win last year was their first tournament victory since 2014). NSW (the first coach to lead the Blues to a game-three victory at Suncorp Stadium since Ricky Stuart in 2005)."

and incredibly depressed as a WT supporter.... 😡🤷‍♂️

Classic Blocker on the BSB this morning

Blocker : Mitch Moses had to stand up when chosen after Cleary was injured and he more than done that, he’s been sensational, in fact Cleary or no Cleary next year he should get first crack at the half spot

Daley : nah, disagree Block, Cleary is the best 7 in the game if not the best player, he comes straight back in next year

Blocker : well look at it this way Loz, if Joey Johns misses an origin series through injury and the replacement kills it in his absence it don’t matter, he still has to come straight back in cuz he’s the best

Me : 🤔🤔🤔

What the series showed was the Maguire factor if the players bought into his style. Unfortunately the cattle we had felt this was too hard when he was with us 🤔
Madge spends a lot of time looking for the Rugby League holy grail, and its deeply rooted meaning imbedded into the cultural identity of the team. He looks for it everywhere, players, supporters, fans. He’ll go back decades to find this motivational trigger which lies somewhere in the history of a club/team/locality and the people who went before, uncovering their sacrifices to achieve success. He looks at what it means to be given such a privileged opportunity to be part of something bigger than any individual involved. Madge, like Sheensy understand that people do things for their own reasons.
I often wonder what he found when he went looking at the history and culture of Wests Tigers?

He is over. Rated , how many tackles he make any one know
15 tackles, 0 missed, 0 ineffective.
Everyone is hung up on his minutes but he is there for a specific role. Defence in the opening 20minutes. As the game opens up a little and the middles fatigue, he loses his effectiveness, and quicker more mobile players defend better. But for that initial softening up period, he is by far the best.

Don't be sad . Rep games aren't coaching.
He's a rubbish club coach.

I love the narrative on him....
All the media that big him up, If they had 10 million dollars
- And could spend it all on any selection of middles they want,
How many do they buy before they consider Jurbo?

My answer is most of them.

Was also thinking that,
All and sundry have been claiming this one is going to blow up.... (There's gonna be sin bins and such)
Then when it happens they all sit back and say 'you can't do that'

Suggest you check his game minutes, he didn’t play many, which surprised me although I’m a long time Yeoh fan and thought he went well !
Very one dimensional, but obviously Madge felt was well liked and respected amongst the group.
