2025 Wests Tigers predicted team

In the year 3000 our fullback will be Zorb from the planet Okron.

Forum will post that Zorb is too slow and not worth the 20 zillion we paid.

Half the players we'll have by then either won't be at the club now or won't have even debuted yet. Absolutely pointless speculating which teenagers may step up this far in advance

Its not ridiculous.
4 years is not that long.
If we have don't keep a core group of around 10 players from the current squad in 4 years time, we won't be able to build a strong team and culture.
We have a core group of promising young players who will all still be in their mid 20s in 4 years time who should be the nucleus of the team.
And we are actively investing in juniors and pathways, so we should have a strong group of younger players come through who are already in our system.
Yes we'll hopefully sign some players in targeted areas (2nd row, centre and wing) but we can't rely on external signings alone like bulldogs are.

Pipedream. All off contract next year. Make it happen MagSheenys:

Brandon Smith
Joseph Manu
Angus Crichton
Nat Butcher
Isaiah Papali’i
Junior Paulo
Egan Butcher

It's not realistic at all because It is completely disregarding the fact that you recruit external players. I know we have not really signed anyone but jeez 4 years? Just make the thread about which juniors you think will progress.

It does tell you what positions we lack depth or experience and where should target for external players.

If hartigan isn't working to a rough 4 year plan I'd be shocked

Congrats on being bold enough to go where no one has gone before. To all the haters thinking this is a ridiculous thread, I look forward to reading your wise words in the Dad Humour section.

Frullens premise is sound given what we know - A new Centre of Excellence - Tim Sheens on board and the reality that our current squad is essentially young and inexperienced. But in 4 years that all changes and suddenly there are Men when once were Boys!

Of course, there are many variables from salary cap pressure, injuries & form. But if you don't think our Coaching staff & Footy Management team don't already do this type of modelling then you are living in the 60's when players were part-time footy full-time garbologists.

Not a ridiculous thread at all... NRL club management would constantly be looking at long term personnel. The difference is that top teams are not looking at what shape their roster MIGHT be, they're looking at what it WILL be.

I don’t think it’s a ridiculous thread at all. If anything it shows the weakness between the top and bottom teams.

It’s not only about predicting which juniors will prosper, it’s also about ensuring you pick the right ones but manage the cap in a way that ensures that you have at least ten of your squad members go through one 4 year cycle.
Unbelievable that the Roosters have been able to keep 5 through two cycles and up until last year have Aubusson and Friend since 2009. Given also that the roosters didn’t have a locked position for Aubusson.

Be interesting to see if penrith have retained many from their 2013 cycle. I’d say no one. But you can guarantee that in 25 they will have at least,
Cleary
Fish
To’o
Crichton
Luai
Martin

Edit only Cleary and Fish on this list are from 2017.

But Penrith still have a core of the following from 2017 and I would expect them to keep at least 5 of them into /25 team as they are all under 25.
Kikau
Yeo
Fish
Leota
Edwards
Cleary
May

Why??? That seems to be the basis of our recruitment plans at the moment

Wow, that's actually a lot more constancy at Penrith than I expected.

South will be interesting in 2025.
There spine alone:
- cook will be 34
- renoylds will be 35 and at Brisbane
- walker will be 35
- latrell the only one left at 28

Only other main player at souths would be Murray at 27

Think their premiership window closes after this year. And Bennett leaves another club that implodes after he goes

I haven’t checked Souths out. Only Reynolds would remain from 2013.
From 2017 and current ages
Burgess T 29
Burns 25
Cook 30
Graham 22
Johnson 26
Murray 23
Reynolds 31
Walker 31

If you look at the team we had in 2016, which went down in round 7, 18-19 to Storm in extra time, the only remaining player is Luke Brooks. Tedesco, Addo-Carr-Carr, Curtis Sironen, Ava, Moses and others. All gone.

You would think the roosters will go on another buying spree soon - players either retired, moved on or getting old

I think that's the issue the thread has thrown up. Top sides don't have mass turnovers of playing rosters or coaching staff. They would have identified what their weakness areas will be in 3 years time and recruit now to cover those positions. Its what we are attempting to do - just that we are at the starting point whereas they have been doing it for years.

I couldn't bear another 4 years with a team looking like that. If that's the team we still would not have made the 8

Delete this thread

Why - whats it done to you?

There's a thread about naval shipbuilding and a thread about dad jokes - but you want to delete a thread about what players should become the nucleus of our team in 4 years?

If you didn't like the thread - that's cool, just don't read it 🙂
