Maybe his club in their 20 odd years could have developed some Melbourne juniors.

Brisbane’s Eastern Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club Inc — behind one four reported bids to become the city’s second team in the NRL — filed a trademark on the title “Brisbane Firehawks” this week.

It seems like a bit of a waste of time filing for trademark on the name Brisbane Firehawks. I doubt anyone is going to try and steal it off them ? ?

Perth Population 2020. Perth's 2020 population is now estimated at 2,041,959.
It has the numbers
It has another option for a new timeslot for east coast viewing
It has the opportunity to grow the game
With Union struggling now is the time to strike

About 5000 junior participants aswell before someone brings up 'where will they get their players'

If people who follow the NRL wish to make a holiday out of traveling to a game, then Perth would be another option to travel to
People already have the option to travel to Brisbane, Nth Qld, Melbourne, NZ, Canberra, Newcastle and Sydney
Adding Perth to that list allows you as a supporter to explore a whole new area and for the Nrl's supporter base to expand
I don't think having a second Brisbane team will expand the Nrl's supporter base
People in Brisbane will already support Brisbane or another team
There is no team in Perth for people to follow so build a team and they will come

Apparently there is room for negotiation in the broadcast deal for expansion. That would only be there if they are thinking about 2 teams to add a game per per round

I don't really see the point of adding just one.

Surely they would be playing out of Suncorp?
Redcliffe Dolphins are an existing side , but it is probably 60 kms from Suncorp
They have upgraded their home ground and a few A League games have been played there
Ipswich makes the most sense , about 200 k population , no issues with Brisbane
My thing with an extra Brisbane club is this ...you are either a broncos fan or support a club pre broncos .....what Brisbane fans of rugby league would switch allegiances ....
Ipswich you'd support your own town , your own club and with the history of Ipswich superstar rugby league players who would attract talent and fans to the club
Also there is a hatred between Ipswich and Brisbane ....lies underneath the surface ....but promoted well and it would become like Souths / Roosters , Wests / Manly
Called the jets?
If they decided to make Ipswich a Stadium , where the current ground is perfectly positioned , 400 metres to the train station and a huge area they could build a massive stadium
Would that attract fans in Brisbane or just Ipswich people? Its sounds a bit Campbelltown ish, in that you'd be concentrating on just one area.
But many Ipswich fans would be Broncos fans
As I said you won't attract enough fans / members to a 2nd Brisbane franchise and none of the current BRL sides would attract enough fans / members
Ipswich kills two birds with one stone
I don't quite follow. Will the Ipswich Broncos fans change allegiances?
Yes .....when you bring in the Walters , Langer and many of the other Ipswich heroes the fans will follow
Redcliffe and Easts will draw nada ......if the Bombers did a membership drive they'd draw sfa .....was different with the Crushers because there was a real anti Brisbane sentiment then ...... any ex Crusher fans would be Titans or Cowboy fans now ........And if you didn't switch your allegiance to the Broncos or Crushers from you current NSWRL club you aren't going to be swayed now

Is that true though? If you go for a NSW club , and you hate the broncos but live in Brisbane (it’s a pretty cool city), would you not sign up for the “bombers, dolphins, jets” just to get behind a local team . You’re not really betraying your current club, but especially if you have kids , you’re supporting a club that doesn’t have the crap behind it the broncos have . Also your kids get to go to 12 games a year to support a local team.
I live on the south coast , and have taken my son to 10 odd Dragons games , because that’s his local club. It’s much easier for him to get behind. And if that’s what his friends are into as they get older , he can share in that with them more than being a tigers supporter.
