321 vs Souffs

I can understand everyone giving the backs points as Noffa finished beautifully, Jacko ran the side really well, Brooks tried his guts out and stood up. They got us home.

The forwards though…they were at war all night and didn’t back down. I thought Souths won the middle but our blokes kept coming at them and didn’t give in. Had they succumbed, we lose…simple as that.

Tamou - 3
Joffa - 2
Liddle - 1

I find it hard to pick a 3-2-1 this week as virtually every player was prepared to put in 110% effort determination and refusal to be beaten.
There where a couple of highlights which showed this in Liddles chase from behind to stop a certain try and Brooks pick up and run for a 70 meter try. However i went for 3 men amongst many who put in huge efforts

3 Hastings
2 Tamou
1 Nofo

3 Hastings - leadership
2 Brooks - in everything
1 Luci - much needed go forward late in the game

HM - to’a, Musgrove, Noff

3 Nofa
2 Hastings
1 Brooks

In saying that, starting front row aimed up big time for players that showed nothing last year. Also Seyfarth 50 tackles, Twal 35 tackles (0misses).

Liddle great heart to chase down Ilias, better service than Sharks game. Ken with the hard yakka with the struggling knee, Toa just looks dangerous whenever he gets the ball and plugged well at FB. Lucy dangerous but potentially underused.

Garner hitting hard and sticking in defence in his old time centre position. Laurie unfortunate injury but was looking slick prior. Offa holding the middle nicely.

Great team effort

3 Nofo
2 Hastings
1 Joe O - maybe Tamou was better but Joe O has been huge for us this year. He is giving it everything he has and playing really well.

To'a, Brooks, Tamou, Liddle & Seyfarth deserve special mentions as well. To'a did great for us at fullback. Brooks made some mistakes but defensively he is great and he came up big time at crunch time. Tamou is killing it. Liddle & Seyfarth put in as well.

3 Hastings - goal kicking a bonus
2 Brooks - not perfect but stood up when it mattered
1 Tamou

A very committed team effort with a lot of good performers

3 - Hastings
He's put his hand up and has proven he can be our leader. His kick game is spot on,
little grubbers, mid up and unders and floating torpedoes + he can kick goals. Without those two cracking sideline goals in the first half we lose.

2- Tamou
Finally we saw some real grit and leadership from Tamou, he led our pack from the front with his effort. Great numbers, I hope we see that every week.

1-Brooks
What a way to win again, Brooks nailed it. I like him slotting into 9, he just needs to get his passing game right. He had a few shockers that hurt and made it a hard win.

HM
Madge and the coaching staff. Our lack of errors and high completion rate was brilliant, we just need to fix our D. At times we looked like a supermarket turnstile.

Eeeyah Tiger!

3. Hastings
2. Nofo
1. Brooks

Honourable mention for Garner who has now been called upon to fill in at centre a few times now when we have really been in trouble. In my opinion he has been much more solid than most would ever have expected him to be.

We continue to make other teams play crap. Souffs completion rate, errors and missed tackles were not too good and I would like to think that was at least partly due to the pressure we put on them.

Surely they came into this game well aware of what we were able to do against those Slimy Eels and in no way should have come in expecting an easy win.

Having said that, in my opinion Souffs have been far from convincing so far this season and have looked nothing like a top 4 side so far. I think Demitriou would have to be another coach that would be starting to feel a little uncomfortable unless Souffs really hit top form sometime soon.

We seam to be gaining a little bit more respect for the way we are playing and it cannot have gone unnoticed that in games we have played we have managed to contain (even nullify) some very highly rated strike players that have been very prominent for their teams so far this season, that is until they played us.

I think the way we are going we are starting to gain a bit of respect not only from other teams but also in the media and I think we may be starting to get a fairer go off the Refs who may be suffering from the guilt of ripping us off in the past.

Next week we play St.George in a game which in all likelihood we go into as favourites and we all know how that usually turns out particularly when we are looking for a 3rd win in a row.

With the injuries we have and especially without a recognized back up at full back, I can really see us being tested with the high ball and to my way of thinking, this is a very important/real danger game coming up.

Go TIGERS!

Was gonna give T'oa a shoutout, he reminds me of Gagai a bit in the sense that he always bumps off the first defender and punches through the Defensive line. He looks like he would be a nightmare to tackle 1 on 1. Good cheapy little pick up

Shaky under the high ball tho.
