Was enjoying that game tonight and for a while was dreaming that the 'Riff (raff) could actually lose, then reality struck and the 'Riff won.

Then came the really hard part when I realised that the Donkeys were one of those teams that I had put down as a win, but unfortunately on that performance they are just another team that puts a score on us.

Just because they played well against Penrith last night doesn’t mean they will keep it going. How many times have you seen one of the bottom teams put in a good performance against one of the top teams only to revert back to their old habits and get smashed the following week - we do it regularly.

We may very well be the bench mark for it, but I did say on that performance they put a score on us and was not suggesting that we definitely don't improve or that the Donkeys don't regress again to their earlier form.

I actually have a different take on this and from this I actually wish the players wouldnt perform for 80mins.

Growing up I played 3 main sports and two of them I played very high levels (league was the one that wasnt).

In my best sport, I was close to "making it" but played in a high intensity position. It wasnt until an international player told me to NOT "play for the 80mins" that my game improved. The whole point was to intentionally select parts of the game that you were NOT REQUIRED to be switched on 100% and in those moments intentionally relax and distract yourself. The critical thing is to then know the triggers in the game to switch back on and when you switch back on, it has to be 100%.

I have regularly thought that this translates well to Rugba leeg and it extends your "mental stamina" through a game.

Yeah ..but you need to be mentally switched on for 80 minutes ....I think most people understand you can physically switch off for very small portions of the game

I disagree, which is pretty much the point of my post.

One of my simplest goals I had was If I wasn't doing something on the footy field I was helping someone who was .....you were always on the ball 100% ..especially mentally ...working out how to break a side down that you were struggling to score against or defend against .....maybe it was the position I played ....but that's how it was

I'd squeeze the oranges into players cuts ...get them in the right frame of mind ...we had trainers that did that ...freezing cold night in Ipswich ...they'd squuze freezing cold water bottles down ya jocks ......you'd be pissed off just as you were heading out after HT

Queensland origin secrets. Thanks Hap we will let Blind Freddy know.

I think Madge hates turning up for the press conferences as much as the team hates hearing from Madge after the game. The team has no answers for their performance and Madge has no answers for the press. So just repeat what was said after the last surrender.

Quite regularly gets to freezing and below in winter

Compared to last week it was a massive improvement. We still lacked structure, made bad defensive reads, but definitely fought much harder.

I don't have a problem with players trying to keep things positive in the press - what's important is that they use tonight to build some momentum and a week of slightly more positive press may help that happen.

I actually think it’s closer to 121 minutes 30. We have been a different team since they got booed at the 8th wonder .
