Geez, harsh on Hastings there. Anyone is prone to an injury such as a smashed ankle from a hip drop to it that he copped.

You may be right FG, but he appears to hobbling at times and i think we need someone with speed and creativity in the 6,7, and 9 and i don't think we can rely on Hastings alone!

Agreed on the speed bit for halves, but always thought the ball playing lock role was Hastings position and even just a few weeks there was enough to confirm it for me.

Just like Doueihi, he might want to play in the halves and I dont blame either of them, particularly dollar wise for potential contracts. Just don't see their best contributions to the team being in such positions, if others are available to fill them. Probably not Madden, but he has a few more games to improve and impress, and I wish him luck.

Whilst happy with Laurie at the back, particularly in recent weeks, wouldn’t be adverse in giving him a shot in the halves if we can fill the fullback spot.

I don't necessarily disagree with you but it sounds like a complete overhaul of our spine and I don't think that there is any way we will be able to buy an established quality half or fullback. It would have to be another development player.

I don't have an answer. My hope was AD proves himself a marquee type player but his defense is terrible and his attack isn't consistent.

I think the team has to revolve around Hastings but I'm not sure if he can play that 13/halfback role all season. I also feel he is playing that role because we have two halves that aren't up to it as halves in Brooks and AD. It might work though. Brooks and AD are both decent running 6's.

I'm not sure if our forwards or spine are the areas in our team that need the most amount of changes.

There's NRL Fullbacks everywhere.....
Titans have 2, And can only win as many games as us....
Dragons kid can't get a run.

I can promise you we certainly won't find them if we don't look - It's increasingly obvious we're the least covered in that position in the NRL... Such an important position and all we have is
Daine Laurie... Throughout 3 Grades.

Your right about his defense, it is shonky as. You compare him to Daine Laurie who is half his size and it reaks of lack of effort from AD.
Daine is still learning but wears his heart on his sleeve.....AD on the otherhand is nowhere near a marquee player atm.
Even if a game is not going to plan, a top player is all over the park playing with energy and talk, like Munster does.

I cannot agree more.

Laurie is a great person and player, no we can't keep our gun spot of Fullback for him.
Easts have 3 fullbacks, Cows have 2 (really if your thinking Val Holmes, he is a winger IMHO).

Hastings has shown the right Attitude, being willing to play 5/8, Halfback and even Lock. If the Hip recovery goes as planned he will be back. IMHO lets build around that.

Doueihi has shown the right attitude, but he hasn't set the world on fire. Very much a Josh Reynolds style of player (when he had form at the Dogs).

We will want to buy a gun Fullback at some stage, no we can't keep that spot for Laurie. Laurie to 5/8 and Brooks/madden to halfback (madden is probably still a reserve half). If Brooks isn't walking and I think everyone hope he does, then Doueihi needs to go.

Far too much of our cap is tied in the "big 17" which we know is really the "big 25". That leaves us with players that are almost as good as their opposition counterparts and a lot of bench warmers.

We played our best footy with JH at 7/13 and Brooks/Madden and AD at 5/8's. The role of 7/13 for Hastings was genius!
