Can we please bookmark this thread, if AD doesn't have a good year, we can revisit how happy so many folks were to sign him today.

Not being a negative nelly, just I recall a lot of revisionist commentary about JRey between today and back when we signed him.

I'm pleased for AD to be aboard, hope he does well, let's see some performance on-field now.

You take your chances with any player I guess and this is just another one. We didn’t appear to have paid overs and so very little to lose.

It's amazing that weve managed to put together such an awesome team with still a lot of liabilities hanging over our head - the fine, Reynolds, packer & McQueen.

A lot of credit has to go to Benji. The bloke accepted a deal a lot less than his current form warrants and I'm sure he's a factor why a few of these younger kids want to come. Hope we can get him a Finals appearance to go out on.

**Wests Tigers sign Doueihi for $1.8m as fullback and future Benji successor**

Adam Doueihi will start at fullback for Wests Tigers before succeeding club favourite Benji Marshall in the famous No. 6 jersey after signing a $1.8 million four-year deal.

The Tigers have taken care of the future as well as the present after staving off late interest from the Sydney Roosters to land the 21-year-old.

![alt text](https://static.ffx.io/images/$zoom_0.338%2C$multiply_2.1164%2C$ratio_1.5%2C$width_756%2C$x_53%2C$y_36/t_crop_custom/q_62%2Cf_auto/81ab1758f20eb9a60c0871868463c4fd5dcb446e)

The Roosters were understood to be interested in Doueihi as a stop-gap centre solution, but the Tigers wanted the Balmain junior for the long haul and to unite him with good friend and coach Michael Maguire.

Souths cut Doueihi loose after paying the first three months of his wages and will contribute about $60,000 of his $600,000 deal for 2021.

Doueihi's signature comes in the same week the Tigers signed Canberra centre Joey Leilua. The swap deal with Paul Momirovski and Melbourne hooker Harry Grant is expected to be rubber-stamped by the close of business on Friday.

The likely departure of Momirovski and off-season exit of Esan Marsters means Doueihi will also take over goal-kicking duties.

Doueihi said he was ''relieved to be back home'' and the Maguire factor made it easy to commit. He is also understood to have spoken with former Tigers favourite Robbie Farah, who this week sold him the club's dream but stressed he needed to do what was best for him.

Maguire recruited Doueihi at Souths, when he was their coach, and had planned to use him in the halves.

Maguire said he was focused only on this season rather than who would succeed 34-year-old Marshall whenever he hung up the boots.

"The only thing I'm focused about is right now, I'm only worried about Benji Marshall playing at his best and Adam Doueihi playing at his best - I want success this year,'' Maguire said.
"The future will sort itself out in time. Adam will get his opportunity at fullback, but I also have a high regard for Corey Thompson, and to have success at your club you need that strong competition for spots.

"Adam has great character, I saw that in him when I first signed him at Souths, and it's those qualities that can help drive your organisation to success.''

Maguire said there was no extra pressure on Doueihi, who has struggled to deal with the intense interest in his contract situation after being told by Souths coach Wayne Bennett he was free to pursue a fullback spot elsewhere following Latrell Mitchell's arrival at Redfern.

Doueihi, who informed his Souths teammates during the week he was about to quit with two years to run on his deal, said Maguire had played a big role in his life.

"We've always kept in touch. I've had a soft spot for Madge, he was the main reason I went to Souths in the first place,'' Doueihi said.

"He was honest with me back then and a fan of me back then. He came here [the Tigers] last year, I'm coming here now. He seems over the moon and I can't wait to work under him again. He respects hard work and discipline, two traits I have, and I'm excited to be coached by him.''

The Tigers had been the front-runners for Doueihi, despite Melbourne showing brief interest in him as a centre, along with the Roosters.

The Concord club has one spot on its roster remaining, which does not need to be filled until June 30.

Souths were happy with the deal and have two spots on their roster to fill, including one that must be locked down by kick-off.

"We're sorry to let Adam go. We rated him highly and he's a good buy for the Wests Tigers,'' Souths football boss Shane Richardson said.

"What it does for us now is it gives us more flexibility with our cap and we still have a couple of spots left in our roster, which we will finalise in the next little period.

"We don't need any outside backs and, if anything, we need some middles. We're still hopeful of getting Jai [Arrow]. It's never been about money with Jai, it's a matter of what happens with him and the Gold Coast and his contract.''

Agree. Even if he doesn’t go on to big things he is worth his average salary of 450k we are paying.
Small change from 750k for Reynolds and Mbye remaining years at 900k. Cleary going and Madge signing is the best thing to happen to the Tigers since Sheens.

Does it matter...Pascoe assured everyone Wests Tigers will not pay overs ever again for players...

Anyway looking forward to the official announcement...there will be pressure on Doueihi to hit the ground running given all that's gone on...hope he slays it..

Pascoe also said we are look for speed, AD is not a speedy player.

I hope he lives up to the hype cause I just don’t see it?

Souths fans did. The ones I know are really pissed.

No doubting he is a hard worker and does show potential, but from the few games I’ve seen him play and a lack of highlights doesn’t have me super excited about his signing and feel it’s a solid signing which is at a fair price if he turns out to be a star, otherwise he is a high priced could have been on a 4 year deal. I guess this would apply to almost any player signed by any nrl club.

I truely hope he works out and lives up to the high expectations and leaves me with egg on my face, in which case I will happily take the eggs, add some bacon and eat them on a fine September morning before heading off to watch the Tigers play in a finals match!

Trouble is people have a different opinion of what is a high price. Seems reasonable to me to pay a spine player about 485k a year and sign a young spine player to a 4 year deal.

Will never please everyone.

Agree, a players worth is always a tough one to agree on. I am comfortable with the reported sum of mid $400‘s for AD, imo he is not currently worth that but has potential based on knowledgeable posters and other nrl fans. I’m just not convinced yet that he is special or is going to be special but I have been wrong before and hope I’m wrong again on this one.

I'm slightly torn on this. Slight overs imo, but if he is solid at 1 it will seem cheap very quickly.

Good luck young man, play with your heart and your head, we will all be behind you.

And I'm not being negative here, but the mood swing this week is opening a lot of people up to a lot of hurt. When people were depressed about Mitchell I urged realism and I'm doing the same now. Winning the key moments in tight games will get us in the finals, not signing any one player. We were already close enough if good enough but we can't afford to drop games to teams like the dogs and Penriff as we did in 2019.

More than anything i trust two things.

1. Maguire, who recruited him to Souths and is a fan of the kid.

2. How the guy holds himself, his intelligence and attitude.

That'll do me.

Wow , what a roller coaster of a off season. From the Latrell drama and thinking no one would come here, to getting BJ, AD and the Melbourne hooker. Well done to all involved. In Madge we trust.

They should get @Demps a recruitment role.
That guy would have our cap balanced perfectly with a premiership ready roster, depth and all.

You’d be wasting our cap space and slots on Kayne Kalache and Abbas Miski.

Lichaa on a 10 year deal...

Gun NSW cup signings.
We'd have a team in GFs every year.

Naysayers.

I have a scalpel at hand.

Seriously though, signings like these were always going to be announced, if not these particular individuals, others have been in play and people were getting their knickers in a knot over nothing.

Grub is still a good player, when he's fit.

Doueihi is a future half for mine.

To all you keyboard coaches and nervous nellies out I have said this before
MADGE HAS A PLAN
Let's sit back and watch this season unfold we appear to be a better side on paper than last year with the players we've signed and hopefully a few more wins that will put us in the 8 which will hopefully attract players for 2022 who want to be at WESTS TIGERS

And I have said before EVERY COACH HAS A PLAN. What sort of profound statement is it to say our coach has a plan. I’d be worried if he didn’t.

From a lot of the previous chat some people considered Pascoe and Madge had no idea at all and wouldn't be able to sign anyone very easy to be a keyboard coach

I believe a lot of credit has to go to recruitment. They backed themselves to get their men and they have and they have got the current clubs to carry freight.

Fantastic outcome for players you want on board. Souths might have been OK with him staying on this year but next year is a different story. I still maintain they had to get him off the books and they had to take whatever offer was on hand now in case he had a poor year.

No one likes a hindsight hero. Those nervous nellies you speak of are some of the most passionate supporters this club could have. Me included.

#respectallopinions

This comment was not in hindsight I've believe all along leave it to the experts that why they get paid the big bucks I agree respectallopinoons but some of the rubbish that has been placed on the Forum has been ridiculous
