Hartigan was on a hiding to nothing. apparently he and Madge don't see eye to eye, Sheens went from Head of Football Performance, to Coaching Director, to Director of Football in a matter of months and then asked to bring McDonnell back. writing was on the wall. don't blame the bloke for leaving, but I'm filthy that he's out the door. No idea why they would let go of Hartigan. With Sheens being made head of football I understand that Hartigan's job has then been made redundant but he should at least be involved in some capacity within the club in identifying and recruiting young talent (a field in which he's shown to be more than competent). And for Sheens to let go of Hartigan and bring back McDonnell... let me just say it's not been a great start to Sheens' return for me

Hartigan is gone because of McDonnell. Hartigan's brother who scouts junior talent for us in Qld also quit last night.

Can you expand on this Willow? The way I interpret what you have said here is that McDonnell has been appointed and Hartigan left on his own volition as a result?

I have no idea if Woodward is good at what he does or not, but I hate the way he goes on SEN and shoots his mouth. Again I have no idea of whether he is good at what he does, but I do know that our team is not good at what it does.

he effectively invented the Moneyball system for rugby league when he was at Melbourne, which has given them the ability to identify kids at a young age and players that fly under the radar of most clubs. I know for a fact Jake Simpkin was discovered with the system. the only issue is whether or not we are able to use it after he leaves, or whether he takes it with him.

Sheens should have been left with junior pathways. That would have been an ideal appointment for him. Instead we are going straight back to 2012.

I am going to have a hard time supporting them next year if Sizzler comes back.

Same as 12 posts ago..

They basically duplicated the role with Sheens appointment… the writing was on the wall from the time they fluffed around with Sheens job description

Another thing I will say about Hartigan he implemented the Cap management policy …valuing positions as well as talent identification procedures …some may not agree with the decisions costing us recruitment targets …not overpaying the likes of Aloiai to stay going over the top for TPJ etc but it has put us in a good position mid to long term…

These decisions need to be maintained… I have my doubts…

Further to my last post, this is why we are a joke.

A coach we sacked in 2012 and took us to court because he thought we were underhanded in trying to change his role has been elevated to director of football while we had a GM of football and has effectively had no issue with pushing that guy at first out of his role, and then ultimately out of the club with nepotistic appointments.

Said bloke is going to have a guy on his football staff that was also pushed out of the club only to return 18 months later.

Absolute shambles as an organisation.
