Alex Seyfarth #232

I don't see why you sign him long term. Basically at the level of below average first grader and could be replaced by nearly any plodder. Just don't see the value in tying down a squad spot to him.

3yrs meh based on his time to date.
Must be a very favorable contract for the club.

I’m not his biggest fan but look he loves the club, is all heart, a fellow ranga, won’t be on huge amount and at worse is a fringe NRL footballer. All the top squads have a Seyfarth type player in the ranks. If he improves, plays on the edge and delivers then have zero doubts we get more value out of the deal.
...and hes a shamrock 👊

We just re-signed Alex Seyfarth for 3 years (effectively 4). Not sure why the club is getting the benefit of the doubt of the length of extending Pole being out of their hands.
Not sure what you mean. Seyfarth probably jumped at the 3 year extension (not too many options). Even if Pole was offered 3 extra years, he has more potential upside in his next contracts and more to lose by committing to a longer term with the three time spooners

For all Seyfarth doubters, based on speculation, hopes .Richo explained Twal's resigning as 1 of those workhorses that every team needs as some kind of NRL super coach pick, that fluxuates on average points ,yet is easy to move on if you need the money quick, for someone better in any position . Suppose we have 2 of those now.I like his resigning, think he is on the way up .

If you want to build a club culture, you need to sign culture players.

Twal & Seyfarth- for anyone that's ever been involved in a club environment- are your absolute A-Typical 'club men'. Guys that put club first.

I think it's a great signing & a better indication of the mindset the club is trying to grow. Less journeymen, more reliance on guys that 'are Wests Tigers types'.

You pay for the class players you don't have. You fill the other roles with guys that put in for the guys around them. Could be....'COULD BE'....one of the reasons guys like Adam Doueihi are liked by management.

I’m thrilled with this extension the bloke has worked his arse off for the last 3 years always putting In 100% effort with the same amount of passion the bloke loves this club he’s a local jr. Richo knows what type of players we need at this club and he’s definitely one of them

Yeah he works hard and loves the club, but he's just not that great a player. He's solid enough, and I hope he goes good this year, but him being our starting second rower MASSIVELY highlights a lack of depth

Hopefully a longer deal means he's taken less per year... not like there would've been clubs falling over to sign him.

Showed some decent signs late last year, just hope he fixes his discipline. Long as he makes his tackle and has some line speed he'll be fine.

Agree, the epitome of a Wests Tigers player, both Red and Twaly were given their NRL starts with the club. When Twaly was coming up centimetres short of the line for 6 gruelling seasons, it was the coach and teammates who committed to carrying him over the line if need be.
When he finally scored his first try after 100 games even the opposition fans were overjoyed.
It was one of the few times for celebration in an otherwise dull year. It’s those moments the club needs to hang onto.

Depth at prop and edge is a must for any club. Happy with Twal and Seyfarth.. They will always do what is best for the club. If thats starting, bench or in reserves. They aren’t going to break the bank.

how are you supposed to keep a player who's been bang average his whole career hungry & motivated to improve when you go & hand him a 3 year extension (which will now see him be at the club for the next 4 years)
To be fair while I have many doubts over Seyfarth, motivation isn’t one. Might be worth it if chills out a bit!

agree with most people here - tries his guts out every week and can do a job in the middle or edge. If he can improve 5-10% on impact with ball in hand he will be a very handy player. Just turned 26 too so we have locked him in for what should be his best years. He been very reliable too - can’t remember him ever getting too many injuries which is also of value.
