Alex Seyfarth #232

He literally cost us a game against the Warriors this season with one of his dumb penalties, and he’s good for at least one of those every game. He is absolutely one of our more pressing problems, hopefully less so with KPP starting.

Any team with Seyfarth in the 17 (outside of injuries) are not serious about competing.
Poor Alex he was rorted by that scum Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad laying down to milk the penalty.

Used to have time for that player, but now he is just a low life scumbag piece of shit.

He did nothing that night, that incident...CNK literally ran face first into his shoulder...zombie ref wyatt earp crapped himself when CNK started bungin it on.
But yes he can be a bloody liability...his stupidity assists refs in finding guily when he blinks

So it took him 91 games to not be a total moron on the field with his discipline? Congrats, you must be so proud that it took your boy only 5 seasons and three coaches for him to show the slightest of improvements.

You really want to bring up Terrell May as a comparison? The same Terrell May who also gets through a mountain of work in attack and defense in addition to playing more minutes so fatigue likely plays a role there. What’s Seyfarths excuse considering he does nothing in attack which every standard metric proves. His per game stats for M, PCM, TB, and line breaks are a joke. He broke 100m once in 21 games while playing around 70 minutes a game. Go ahead and spin your way out of that one.

His only redeeming qualities are his tackle efficiency and tackle count even though he nearly always loses the contact in defense and gets driven back or folded like a deck chair.

Mate, the score in the Warriors game was 24 all with 10 to go, and he gave away a soft penalty which gave them the lead. You can try and spin that however you want but it wasn’t Hunt, Bula, Pole or Luai that did that. It was your boy,

Incredibly enough, it wasn’t even his biggest brain fade of the season. How about the Bulldogs game where he gave away a penalty and then got himself binned when we were on top? But I suppose that wasn't his fault either though.

Stop defending mediocrity and putting your personal favourites over what’s best for the team. Only at the Wests Tigers could we have fans wanting Alex [This word has been automatically removed]ing Seyfarth in the 17. Unbelievable.
Mate, I think you need to revisit my post.

I’ve been on record saying I think it’s best if we can push Seyfarth back to Cup. I’m not defending his football ability in attack and defence I’m just pointing out that discipline is not his biggest issue and the last 2 years are proof that that part of his game is improving. There is no way to argue against that when the time between penalties increased by 50% and the number of sin bins halved.

Yes I want to bring up Terrell May. This guy was absolutely outstanding throughout the year. Churned up ridiculous metreage and made an insane amount of tackles at a very high completion rate. However, multiple times he cost us repeat sets through penalties and ruck infringements and these ultimately lead to tries. Every single player in the game has multiple weaknesses and this is certainly one of Terrells. I don't see how this is so controversial. Sure fatigue plays a role but this guy has run a marathon so likely has much better endurance or mental resilience than many other players so I guess what I'm saying is fatigue causing penalties/ruck infringements is also dependent on a players physical and mental characteristics (eg someone who is less fit (Seyfarth?) gets fatigued earlier therefore lazy arm).

Seyfarth's stats were not that good this year I agree. He spent a lot of the year being quite ineffective. I thought in 2024 he had a good year (this may also be in part to the rest of the team sucking) and was hoping he could continue his improvement like he had done almost every year except that didn't happen and he regressed (but improved discipline).

Now onto the Warriors game. Yeah CNK fell into him with 10 minutes to go. That's a whole 12.5% of match time. Teams have scored 3-4 tries in a 10-minute period before. I don't know if you watched it but those last 10 minutes were some of the worst 10 minutes of attacking football I've seen. It's like they all lost their heads. No structure or anything just doing whatever they felt like. How about the Leka Halasima try 2 minutes before that. We were ahead 24-18 could you not argue the multiple defensive lapses cost us the win as well because before that we were winning? The argument that one single moment defines a whole 80 minute game is just ludicrous especially that far away from the end of the game. You could apply the same thing to Alex Twal who is in la-la land with 40 seconds to go, we have a quick play the ball on the 4th, 40m out from a half break and nobody is there at hooker.

I'm not defending mediocrity. I am simply trying to correct clear misinformation. His discipline is nowhere near as bad as everyone claims over the last year. I also don't want him in the 17 for anything other than injury depth unless he starts playing really good footy.

A lot of people dump on Alex Seyfarth. I personally disagree, the guy is a clubman which is very hard to find these days. If you have time, watch all our tries in '25 and see how many Alex was part of.

Yeah he is a great clubman except watching the whole video I only saw him "involved" in 12 tries which includes just doing a random pass somewhere. He did score a couple good tries due to his capacity to always compete but honestly wasn't much else there of note other than maybe 2-4 crucial passes or linebreaks over a whole year. You can see just how much more dangerous Samuela was on the other side. Another thing I noticed was how involved To'a was at the start of the season before he got injured. Lots of very good tries and assists by him. Bula was also another frequent factor in our tries as well.
