Alex needs a little more mongrel in his running game - perhaps stand a little deeper as well and the guys passing it to him need to put the ball out in front of him to bring him onto the ball. Also some variation in the way he holds the ball so he puts some doubt into the defence. Next level for him is to look for offloads and a pass at the line - if he can bring this into his game he will be great value.

I remember in his first couple of seasons he definitely offloaded the ball a lot more then he does now, that part of his game has disappeared for some reason. He was quite effective too.

It might be because there are no support runners. We sadly lack support play. Everyone seems to get set for the next play.

You can tell when he gets close to the try line he is busting to put it over the line, poor bugger, lol. Thomas Mikaele hasn't also scored one

Mikaele should've scored by now, he's more of a tackle buster and has a bit more leg speed there's no reason he can't score. Whenever he gets near the line he tends to run sideways though

He tends to run sideways at each of the 10 metre lines marked on the field. It's the biggest flaw in his game.

He's only 23 with 58 games. give him at least another season.

I personally hope to see him receive the Kelly-Barnes Award. Also noticed this on NRL.com. It's good to finally see his efforts being recognised by others.

It must be frustrating for players like him watching Aloiai run around in a semi final tomorrow night, in a side with a realistic shot at winning the comp. If Aloiai is good enough, Twal definitely is. Be interesting to see what he decides come November.

Look I like his commitment and his drive, but if u watch his game closely u can see his floors. His line speed in defence is horrible, while he rarely misses a tackle he often just stands there in the line waiting for the runners to come to him. This causes a massive role on for the opposition, and gets us on the backfoot often causing try’s!
It frustrates the hell out of me. Also if he learnt to pass that would be great. The opposition likes twal as they can easily hold him up and get their Line defence in order. I am also sick of him used a settler on the 4th tackle in good attacking positions. But I think that comes down to horrible coaching.

I think he is the only one.

I can't imagine any of our other 17 cracking a Top 4 team. Joe O or Tamou may get lucky to be on the bench based on their experience but certainly not based on their recent performances.

Seriously he is a tackling machine. We need a couple more like him in defence.

Not having a go at Twal at all but tackle efficiency stats can be a little misleading sometimes..

Might be wrong but if you don't attempt a tackle or don't even put a hand on them, it doesn't count as a missed tackle. There have been plenty of times where attackers have walked through the line without being touched.

We all know Brooks is an excellent defender but usually leads the missed tackle stats.. usually not at all his fault.

Twal though is definitely a keeper.

Given Joe O was given a (not very impressive) run in Origin this year, he'd get a go in one of the 9 other weak teams.

It can't be a failure of identification - Tigers signed Paseka to NYC and he's not a Tigers junior before that. Good luck to Manly for getting him first-grade capable after 5 seasons of work.

It's part of that ongoing thinking about junior recruitment and development - Tigers could have spent 5 years on Paseka, but Stefano is already better than him after 1 season. You can of course say "why not both", but the same argument applies why you couldn't just sign another big unit junior who is more first-grade ready. The balancing line between spending years on kids who are borderline, or find some other good juniors to buy during that time.

If only the NRL started a Club of Origin .....we'd be a chance at Top 8 then ...but then we'd lose Twal .....
