That's what has got to me about Madge at this point...and I am fan.

But he has spat out so many "tough talk" lines...that he contradicts by his actions a game later. Finally we had a coach with the gonads to drop Marshall for good...only to bring him back and watch him be even worse.

And yet people on here want to re sign Marshall on the cheap for next year ???
Let Madge have a major clean out at years end
No more re signing nuffies
I would rather new nuffies then the ones we have got
Move Packer, Reynolds, Mbye on and get as much as we can
Say goodbye to Marshall Lawrence Jennings MCK McQueen Taylor Seyfarth and Clark
Get at least two top line players and 2 consistent 1st graders
The rest can be the best youth we can find
I'll give Madge the opportunity to clean out the garbage and fill the team with his players
Then I would hold him more accountability
He still has Ivan's mess to clean up

Another excuse for going backwards

7 Brooks

9 Farah
10 Twal
11 Matterson
12 Garner
13 Taylor

14 Packer
15 Mikaele
16 Aloiai
17 Chee-Kam

7 of these guys are no longer at the club
Another 3 (Jennings, Taylor, Chee-Kam) are not in the top 21
Others in this team have been dropped for periods

There has been a huge amount of change.

We are currently handicapped by a fine and some contracts that for whatever reason have not had the value the staff expected.

If we pay 50% of Packer's, Mbye's and Reynold's salary for them to play at another club, we will be handicapped by $1.1M next year.

To get good, hard working, <28yo players that are not always suspended or broken, we will have to pay overs.

As an example say Roosters get a 20% discount on players because they have a good system and they win, their 2021 salary cap is equivalent to $11.88M.

Tigers have to pay 20% overs and if we are paying 50% of Packer's, Mbye's and Reynold's salary for them to play at another club. Our salary cap would be equivalent to $6.82M.

I know everyone is angry and wants to vent but "Change everything" and "Move on players at any cost" is just asking for a lot more years of pain.

Madge isn't perfect and some of his decisions are questionable if you don't have the same information that he does.

It doesn't matter how long you have been waiting to see your team play finals football, the club has a good plan and is moving forward. The way the salary cap works is stacked against the bottom 8 teams so it is very difficult to change from a losing team to a winning one.

And yet Knights and parra have done just that

what happened to Concord? I drove past and the whole office has been demolished they got these temporary buildings around at the Head office

It was a long process for both teams, they both took risks on players like RCG, Lane and Ponga that turned out better than anyone expected. They both got great value out of some cheap players like Sivo, Mahoney and Best.

Nathan Brown was sacked after recruiting the current team and Brad Arthur must have been very close.

Eels are $6 to win the comp and Knights are $21, neither are likely to win this year.

It is not magic.

Move to Perth
Start fresh

Stop it.

Nah it would be good
NRL kicks in 20 Mil
One home ground
West’s Tigers Forum could charter flights
Still get to see them play in Sydney against Parra / Souths / Chooks etc

I don't like you, you used to be cool

Don’t you live in Perth ?

Maybe the Balmain side of this club is the PROBLEM.

Doubtful since they have no say in the running of the place, and haven't done for some time.

i think we just need a cultural change. i firmly believe we have the coach just need better troops.

In the NRL you can't really build from juniors because they all leave or get signed by wealthier clubs so i suppose it has to be a combination of juniors and players bought in.

Both teams got the spoon mate . The knights for multiple years . You guys want success yesterday! Can you imagine how you’d react to a complete ? rebuild ? You can’t have it both ways . Even the dogs haven’t fully committed to the rebuild . Thier juniors are horrendous . They’re trying to buy thier way out .
We are finally , I say again , finally bottoming out. Cleary bought time for himself and no one else and left before the proverbial hit the fan .
I can’t believe many of you can’t see this ?youd rather whinge about everything , constantly dump everyone for what ? What’s the alternative .
None of you have anything . Just continuous negativity about certain players , every coach , every CEO. Some even bad the COE ?
It’s like you secretly love it . You revel in it .

mate these are fair points...how long were the knights worse than atrocious for?? How bad were parramatta at their worst?? But despite our worst team being rolled out we are always just outside it, with only one game or one play being the difference from finals or not. I'd rather that than being wooden spooners for consecutive years. No matter how bad we have been, other teams have been much much worse. How bad would this forum be if we were running last a few years straight?
We've got a coach that is changing the attitude of the place, that doesn't happen overnight. He could cut and run like the last one did but, in my opinion, he is getting stuck in and making the dirty changes that the previous few coaches didn't have the minerals to do.
We have players signed on dud contracts from a previous coach that are starting to be weeded out. We also have some decent juniors coming through which are first grade worthy that a lot of us are excited to see happen.
We are all expecting the next tedesco/farah/marshall come through the ranks, and they only happen once in a while. We are getting a good nucleus of young players coming through, it's just a tough in between time.

None of us are blind or numb to our historical mistakes.
The moment James Tedesco signed with the Roosters was exactly when it dawned upon us - that club management needed to make some major changes and what's ensued is the realisation that without players of a certain calibre and solid junior infrastructures, the construction of our team and any sustainabiliity of onfield success will always be problematic.

But I think the real lightbulb moment for many fans was Harry Grant's first performance.
His ability, confidence and leadership skills are first rate and supersedes the many highly skillful potential players we've had within the club over the years but recognising the difference of the system we have in comparison to the Storm, is the real kicker for us.
We're now getting a glimpse of what lacking players of his quality within the playing group looks like and want to join the likes of the Storm in being a club capable of nurturing and enhancing the development of emerging players/talent.

This is why I really like Madge as a coach, he's made it known that he wants to incorporate a future orientated framework with progressive pathways and create the more elite practices and standards.
This sort of thing doesn't take 2 years and our club administrators(Board directors, CEOs etc) need to also set the tone and endorse his vision. I agree with a few others on here that they've seem to dropped the ball since Madge's arrival. I;m sure only Lee has been the only person pretty vocal with our long term goals.

I think its reasonable to expect to miss the finals next year with hopefully some improvement and aim for 2022 finals with some solid signings over that time.

I think that's fair. It is going to take more than one/two good signings each year to make this team competitive.
And there's no guarantee that that will even happen.
