All I will add here is that by belittling someones opinion you are going to fire them up - and this seems to be doing this.
goldcoast tiger has mocked someone Jerry obviously looks up to and formerguest has decided to include him in the same basket as a 'troubled' (in his opinion) employee.
By doing this you are both forgetting that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Let Jerry shout oi, oi, oi if he likes - if we choose not to, then ok.
Remember that national pride does not necessarily imply jingoism.[/quote
I have no problems with Jerry having any opinion CK, and I couldnt care less what he or anyone else shouts.
What I was trying to point out to,Jerry is that when he accuses anyone of crapping on Australia simply because he disagrees with Jerry, then he becomes completely objectionable and irrational.
We all at times disagree , but we don't get into a slanging match with each other . I simply told him to lighten up and get a sense of humour.
Most of us here are proud of our Country , and celebrate it in our own ways , and dont deserve to be told that we all should join a politicians fictional Team Australia to be truly Australian
IIf Jerry wants to do that he can, but , he doesn't need to crititise those who don't
You try to associate me with all these labels that are not true like a drunken yobbo rolling out of a pub(just cause I show a great pride in Australia and the anzacs etc) and its you who managed to make an anti american statement just cause I spoke about a great american and its you that manages to mock the term "team Australia"and throw the term into a pot of negativity.
I do not associate the term "TEAM AUSTRALIA" with a political group I associate it with the great work of the Anzacs and the anzac pride that has helped this nation prosper for 100 years on the sporting field and all other facets of life.Theres a reason we are the lucky country and its due to the values that have been installed by these great anzacs of mateship and sticking together thru thick and thin and thru giving a fair go to all.
Sadly these days though there is a select few who wish to "HIJACK" our fair go motto and our way of life and the values that the anzacs(100 years ago this year in fact fought so valiantly for) and instill their own way of life which includes beheadings for crimes.I for one do not prescribe this as a suitable way of life.
Team Australia to me means when Asked are you a proud Australian?Yes.Bloody oath.not Yes but …...... then coming on this page and writing 4 paragraphs of every little negative thing you can try and associate with Australia and then trying to attach it to me(cause you and I disagreed over robbie farah 6 months ago)its petty, its racist and it is the last thing that should be written on a thread titled Aussie Aussie Aussie OI OI OI.AUSTRALIA YOU ARE EITHER WITH US OR AGAINST US.By being with us it means you have so muchhhhhh freedom to do as you wish.So stop the crap with you must ride a surfboard or be a drunken yobbo to be part of team Australia.Modern TEAM AUSTRALIA has over 200 nationalities living in harmony so I would suggest its not the unAustralian tag that would get wrapped around your neck rather one of selfish clown if all your gonna do with the best country on earth is continually mock it.
As the thread title reads Aussie Aussie Aussie OI OI OI......You and nobody else is gonna stop me saying it either (even though to answer the original OP yes it is probably a little outdated LOL).
you can associate Team Australia with whatever you like ,so can anyone but it still remains a slogan that a desperate polly started up to try to pull the patriotic strings when he started to getinto electoral trouble.
Before that it was never heard of.
But if that rings your bell , then go for it, couldn't care less.
If you don't bother to actually read my post then don't reply to it. But I'll just answer a few of your points that you obviously didn't read.
1\. Being a proud australian as you say you are doesn't mean your way is the only way to do that, i really don't care how you do it . But get off the assumption that your way is better than anyone else's, or the only way.
2\. I at No stage referred to you as a drunken yobbo rolling out of a pub,how would I know what you do in your spare time.
3 I at no stage said you shouldn't chant oi, oi,oi.
Once again , I couldn't care what you go around chanting.but don't tell me that it is an necessary part of being an Australian
Actually I agree with one of your comments that it's outdated. That is exactly my point as well.
4 I at no time mocked Australia
5 I may well be a selfish but you wouldn't have a clue whether I am or not,
6 I don't ride a surfboard( wish I did)
7 I do not support or condone beheadings just in case you need to know
8 I don't need your team Australia to be a proud Australian and don't care if you do .
9 I did Not write 4 negative paragraphs or any negative paragraphs about Australia( not sure where you got that one from)
10\. I did NOT say any anti American comment , it was purely a joke( you know what they are)
And was about one particular American who has had millions of his own countrymen make plenty of jokes about him, however if that hurts your sensitivities , then I humbly apologise for implying he was Superman.
11\. I did not even mention Robbie Farah and Dont understand why you felt that it was relevant.
Thats 1O out 11 points that you have just attributed to me , which are not factual and are completely misleading
it would be a good idea , before you accuse someone To get the facts right before you go off on a tangent. We may even have more in common thank you think
